Dartmouth

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an interview invite. I have competitive stats, but I think what makes me stand out as an applicant is my double major and research experience, which included me obtaining a competitive summer fellowship. I think stats are great, but there has to be stuff that makes you stand out amoung other people with the same GPA's & MCAT scores.

What does "competitive" mean? PM me if you don't want to post it.

Hi there!

Having been at DMS for the last month, what I can tell you is that they like diversity here. There are all sorts of people - about 50% of the class have non-science degrees, and we seem to have a large group of people who spent 1+ years researching before applying. Maybe I'm not representing the class well, but those are two things that have stood out in my notice. The median GPA is pretty high at 3.8 (which they commented on during Orientation).

This year's class has an age span of just out of undergrad up to 38. I think the average age is 25 or so. Lots of people have been out of school for several years doing interesting things.

Did you check the MD Applicants link on the SDN homepage? There are stats from several applicants to DMS listed there.

If I can tell you more about the school, PM me and I'd be glad to help in any way.

🙂
