I took my DAT for the 2nd time yesterday. Here are my old and new scores:

Old:

AA 19
TS 19
Bio 20
Chem 17
Orgo 23
RC 15
Pat 17
QR 18

new:
AA 19
TS 19
Bio 18
Chem 19
Orgo 23
RC 17
Pat 18
QR 18

I am not so happy with my new scores, I was hoping for at least a 20.

The bio section was much much harder that the first time I took it. I had a LOT of genetic problems and ecology questions, just a few anatomy and physiology, no plants.
Gen chem was easier that the first time(those mol questions, periodic trends, gas laws)
orgo was easy (Sn1, SN2, E1, E2, synthesis, steriochemistry)
RC I ran out of time(like the first time). my topics were cancer, stock market, nervous system.
Pat patern folding and angeles were hard. In the Hole punching there were a few folds that I had never seen in my life!
QR a lot of word problems, sin, cos, geometry.

HEY, as I've said before, QUIT whining! 🙄

There's no point in whining about stuff, do something to change it, or ask a constructive question ! Good luck !

At least you did improve on some sections, and your score is definitly good enough to get you into a few dental schools.

Hey. I'm with laurasmith. I think we all have our own set of standards, and when we fail to achieve them, we get down at ourselves. That's perfectly okay. But do know that getting down at ourselves is quite counterproducitve.

Laura, hope you will be content with your goals.

i dont see why you think the new scores are bad. i think you did very well and you should be happy.

unless you are trying to compensate for a lower GPA, i think your DAT scores are great. as you can see from the acceptance thread, many people have been accepted for next year with DAT scores similar to yours.

someobyd should compile a SDN average DAT score it would be interesting to see what it is. i would be willing to do it later this winter

Yea it would interesting to see. Should have average DAT all parts of it specified, average GPA both science and cummulative, the school they have went to and what extra curriculars. This is something everyone is really looking for at SDN an up to date of what are my chances.

Second time around. The best way is to reflect what went wrong the first time - seriously. Don't say things like... the center sucked, the dog was barking, I didn't know where the place is, my boyfriend was getting on my case, or some other excuse.

Seriously examine your area of weakness. DAT is a straightforward content test, no tricks, except for a curve ball every now and then, but those curve balls rarely matters.
Honestly recognize your knowledge weakness, and work on them. Simple as that!
