question is, can i submit my app w these scores early n retake aug 22nd n be fine?
what is your overall and science GPA? Are you a URM? What school are you applying to?
yeah man, you def. have to retake to be competitive.
overall:3.2
science: 3.1
nope not URM and im pretty much applying everywhere outside of places like ivy league (Harvard, columbia, etc..)
im a NYS resident
Hmm I am sorry but you should plan on retaking. You are weak in both GPA and DAT scores. Also you are NOT a URM.
schools will definitely see improvement in your scores. However, I would think about retaking it, but this time take as much time as you need to really prepare. Use all your study materials to go over problems in areas that you had problems in. If you show significant improvement, schools will take it into account. Hope this helps, good luck.
Thanks for the replies guys
So I should be fine applying early with these scores? Im sure theyll see im nearly there to meet their cutoffs. Im also looking into some SMPs right now as well
You definitely did see some improvement which is great! Definitely take it one last time, I know its a tough test and it gets overwhelming knowing you have to do it again...but you can do it! Try a different study schedule, how did you study for the first one? Did you take a lot of tests? Check out my DAT posts in the link below...I'll be adding more as I get more questions/suggestions.
Also SMPs wouldn't be a bad idea, if your goal is to apply and get in the first round you apply you want to make yourself as competitive as a candidate as you can. This being said that does not mean 4.0 29 DAT, I just mean take what you have and evaluate am I as competitive as I can be given what I currently have or is there room for improvement. Do I have an upward trend GPA, enough extracurriculars, good people to write my LORs? etc good luck
does anyone know more about how the whole applying early and then updating your score works? Is that even possible or would you have to wait another year??
