so, I'm all done! Here's my results:

PA: 21-->Kaplan I usualy got 22s or 23s, the angles on the real thing are MUCH harder than Kaplan

QR: 17 --> 🙁! I was getting REALLY high scores on this on Kaplan! I got screwed with these random cscX sin^2X questions..like 4 of them. sucked! (STUDY THIS PEOPLE! I didn't study this stuff at ALL)

RC: 21 --> for people that SUCK at reading comp. this was me when I started studying. I seriously scored a 13 on this my first kaplan test (using the "map technique" they teach you. I started reading science journals before bed. Just skimming. I'm a slow reader too so this was not fun for me. I DID NOT use the kaplan method on the real test. That takes too long...I practiced both and got my RC up to a 20 before my test just tackling one question at a time...I didn't even attempt a map and luckily did WAY better.

Bio: 18 --> I used Kaplan and Topscore. Read almost all of the blue book. But never finished the last 2 or 3 chapters on ecology or evolution. I figured that stuff was simple enough. BIG MISTAKE. i got sympatric spciation on my test and had no clue. would have been nice to had read that before hand lol. I got some random questions in there that i just had no clue. some were pretty similar to kaplan. some brain questions matching function. some questions on hormones and function. unfortunately i forgot which phylum has nematocytes and got that one wrong :/

GC: 22 --> yay! I must say before studying for chem for the DAT, I SUCKED at Gen Chem...I got a B-/C+ on in school.... So i REALLY wanted gen chem to shine on this test to make up for it. So relieved.

OC: 19 --> didnt study really for this much. I got an A in both orgo sections and felt okay with it still. I just looked through the amino acids/peptides chapters and stuff i've never seen before. Unfortunately I'm a slow test taker and SUCH and managing my time and had to guess the last 4 questions on Orgo, but I did okay at least!

TS:20

AA:19

I know it't not as great as most people on here, but I'm proud of myself for not doing horrible on RC and actually learning GC! I studied for about a month. I used Kaplan and Topscore for everything.

any oppintions on wheter i should retake because of the QR? or is the 17 okay?

very solid scores!!!! 👍

DO NOT NEED TO RETAKE

and apply smart

good luck!!

You are fine with the QR, its not great but at least its in the QR section and not Bio or something else. Good Job, you'll be fine as far as DAT is concerned.

Did you use search and destroy for RC. Im in the Kaplan class and they state that using the mapping works. However, I just took the Midterm and did even worse on RC. You are absolutely right: it takes too long. I am starting to lean towards the Search and Destroy method.

well done,
where did you get the science journals from? I am looking for those..

As for the RC I was advised to use a mixture of both search and destroy and map (which is how i got a 20 on kaplan practice test the week before), but my first RC section had like 15 paragraphs or something insane, and honestly I just dropped that plan entirely and went with the "search and destroy" approach, and actually scored 1 point higher on the real thing! I think that if you are a slow reader, like myself, why waste the time writing everything down and trying to find it in your map, when you could use that time finding the keywords directly in the passage? But use whatever works best for you. Definitely practice a mixture of both or just "search and destroy" and compare which works better for you on practice tests, if the map slows you down.

And as for the scientific journals, I was getting tutored at Kaplan, and my tutor brought me 2 of his journals. They were called "JADA" or rather "The Journal of the American Dental Association". I am not so sure where he got them, but I think it helped, just because the articles are much more complicated than the real RC passages, so the DAT RC felt more comfortable. It's just a suggestion, I think it helped a little bit, just practicing skimming and getting key points.

I only remember 2 plant questions that i got: one on double fertilization and like what the sperm fertilizes, the other was about xylem and phloem functions

I also scored a 20-TS and 19- AA. Also, i got a 16 on QR and I am not going to retake. Great scores!

thanks for the advice everyone! I feel much better about it now, so, I won't retake it. Let me know if you have any questions while the test is still pretty fresh on my mind ha. good luck everyone!

Hey, did you get a lot of mol bio/ genetics/ development questions? I'm hearing different things from diff people.

Yea I did actually! I got a sex linked recessive cross, I got a a question on what stage of development (gastrula, morula...etc), and i got on on getentic variance in bacteria (conjugation, transformation, transduction). Thats all i remember...I'll let you know if I remember any more
good luck!
