So Im definitely a lurker on this site. I've been scouring the site since Jan 2010 but have not posted anything at all. (Obviously Im not at baylor '11) but I ended up applying this cycle and took my DAT today.
My GPA is 3.86 and my sGPA is a 3.902. 300+ Community Service hours, 200+ of which are in a free dental clinic.
My scores are as follows:
PA: 19 QR: 18 RC: 24 Bio: 21 Gen Chem: 23 Ochem: 28 TS: 23 AA: 23
Let me start by saying I was completely blown away. I did not feel nearly as confident going in to achieve these scores. My friends have always said I am an overachiever...but jeez!
Anyways per studying here is what I used!
PA: I bought the Crack DAT royal flush edition. I did about 3-4 of the exams and was scoring above 20s on all of them so I didn't bother with it anymore. I found the real DAT to be harder than anticipated. Specifically the keyhole had some WEIRD shapes and the hole punch which had always been one of my favorites was significantly harder. Lots of half and quarter folds. Oy Vey.
QR: Grrr... I had scored consistent 22s on my QR. I did destroyer, 3 of the exams on CrackDAT, the Sample 2007 exam and I purchased the online 2009 ADA exam. Some of the questions I don't feel like I had been exposed to the material through any of the study guides. Oh and by destroyer, I dont mean the 10 exam series, just the 150 question packet.
Reading Comprehension: I was thankful I got all science related passages and they were all about things I loved. I was fully engaged and interested in everything I was reading. It was fun!!! I didn't practice this section at all. I just read the passages and answered questions. No method.
Bio: Random questions like everyone says. I have been studying for this DAT off and on since probably about April, although I worked ridiculous amounts this summer. So maybe a day here, 2-3 hrs here. Nothing consistent. I did every single exam on crackDAT, Bio Destroyer, 2007 and 2009 ADA exam, the Free OAT exam (same style questions), and CliffNotes AP Bio and referenced Wikipedia A LOT! I dont think anyone can ever feel prepared for this section.
Gen Chem: All I did was Chads Videos and Destroyer, 2 Exams from CrackDAT and the 2007,2009 Exams and the OAT exam. I felt like it was general chemistry, nothing too difficult and or crazy.
Ochem: What a pleasant surprise. All I did was Chads Videos and the 2007/2009 Exams and the OAT. Nothing else. I really didnt do any sample problems from anything else. Our school has Kaplan books but I felt bored going through them so after alkanes I gave up lol. Per the exam, few reactions, lots of concepts, and a few lab questions.
Overall, I think it was this website and all the ridiculous scores that really drove me to be so obsessed with doing insanely well, and it worked! Thanks for everything you crazy people 🙂
