Hello all, I'm new to the forums, just finished the DAT today. I did not do as well as I thought I should have. I really have no idea how good or bad my scores, and I was hoping some of you could give some input:

AA:17
TS:18
OC:18
GC:17
Bio:18
RC:19
QR:13 (I dont know what went wrong, I didnt even finish like 10 problems)
PAT: 20

Pretty disappointed with my QR score, and embarrassed. I would consistently score 24's on QR on practice tests the first time through it.

So what do yall think? Re-take? Good enough for Dental School applications?

My current GPA is 3.25, Science GPA is 3.6-3.7 (Not a science major).
Can someone tell me how schools calculate your GPA? I spent 2 years at another college before transfering, and my current GPA only reflects my work done at this university, do they add them together?

Blah, what a crappy day.

Also, if I do re-take them, is my score averaged/weighted or are the most current scores accepted?

Thanks for any replies and sorry for all the questions.

I think your scores are pretty good- I took it today too and made a 13 on the QR, so don't feel bad. If only I had a calculator...
Check out predents.com to see where you stack up.
I haven't applied yet, but I think they calculate your GPA from ALL of your classes from each university. If you retake the DAT the schools get the scores from both attempts. I don't know if they average or weigh them- I guess they just take the most current one.

I won't lie, I think that a 17 isn't very competitive for predental students and the 13 on the QR really stands out (I can't say much with a 14 QR). Your TS isn't toooo bad and I think you did great on the RC. You should also be proud of yourself with a 20 on the PAT which is higher then what many people get.
Fortunately for you, I don't think schools really care about the QR. The predents poll suggested that it was the least important individual section on the DAT according to PREDENTAL students. As far a retake, I would definitely be planning on it and I would start studying now for next years application cycle. Nevertheless, you never know. With your Texas residency and other EC's you may have a shot so don't feel down. Just get excited now about studying as hard as you can for next year while keeping one eye open on this year on the side. Good luck!

i agree i feel ur scores are not competitive for this cycle i would retake try to really understand all the sciences etc. and apply next year.

Thanks for the replies. Think I will retake the DAT, but study more than week before. What are some good test materials to study with in terms of accuracy to the real DAT?
