***EDIT meant 9/13 done.

First of all my scores aren't amazing, but I thought Id share my thoughts on the DAT as I do feel I know how to do well on this test. I didn't study as muuch as I should have because I didn't really want to rock it. It feels great to say that and weird at the same time. Im in a joint-degree program that I got into out of HS so i just needed to do moderate on this test to get in after i complete my undergrad so I didn't prepare myself to get 20+ across the board. My science and cum gpa is 3.7.

AA 18
TS19
PAT 15 lmao.

BIO 19
CHE 17
ORG 23
QR 16
RC 17

Lets see... Im pretty much guaranteed admission - that feels good. I studied the month of august for 4-5 hrs a night. I tried to study in the summer but it just didnt happen, I got really lazy and i think i played more nba 2k7 on ps3 than studying during the break (no lie) haha. I really started studying when i got to school on the 25th. Studied for the last 2 weeks for like 10 hrs a day till 5 am everynight .. even the night of the test.. test was at 430pm tho at 1 penn plaza ny.. nice testing center.. I was really scared about bio.. i didnt start studying for bio until 10 days before the test.. i needed the pressure to build up for me to pick up and read all that. Anything can come up on bio!! what a joke.. i spent so much time memorizing everything about all the kingdoms and nothing came up lol.. I had a lot of stuff about troponin tropomyosin and myosin and muscles in general. I read CLIFFS AP BIO.. well atleast most of it.. and 2 days b4 the test i skimmed entire kaplan in like 4-6 hrs as a review. I did Destroyer 2-3 times for each section.. took notest he first time around for each section. BIO section in general wasnt that hard.. I wasn't that well prepared for it and I am happy with my 19, it was much easier than i though and more general.. I bet i got a few easy question wrong and i dont think I am far from a 20 or 20+ student in bio.. Chem i dont know what happened.. topscore i was gettin 20+ everytime.. lots of concepts but nothing on le chatlier or solubility?? idk why i dont remember what i messed up but yeah stuff came up that i had not seen in TS and Destroyer. One qustion i remember in particular.. a graph... change of G over T and it showed a positive G with increasing temp.. not hard but i remember that question.. I dont remember anyother question... i had no PH or solubilty questions. wtf? i love chem math stuff.. 17? IDK but w/e. Organic was a breeze, I had a good teacher in orgo and i actually understood most of it when it ook it..if you know destroyer orgo the dat orgo is a joke..

next i went into PAT.. i remember starting the test feeling good knowing i had got my MIN scores or my program.. and then is tarted to think bout how i am going to my cousins and chillw itht hem.. all this while looking at keyholes LOL. I f'd! myself on time and therefore had to rush through everything when i came to my senses.. the first 2 pat sections were more difficult than i expected.. TPE .. i felt lost.. and then when i got the easier stuff angles, cubes, punchholes.. I didnt have the time i was at like q 50 with like 20 mins left.. I really just lost focus in the beginning and started thinking but god damn cant wait till this is over!! and i was feeling good 2 lol but not bout the PAT part i know i f'd it up after taking it.. I used kaplan, crackpat, and TS for PAT.. dont let my pat score fool you... crackpat is excellent! and TS is alright.. I felt my first ttwo pat sections were a bit more difficult than crackpt which was strange.. my friend took it a month ago and told me his PAT part as simple and he got a 20... and i did the same things as him and got similar grades .. my last topscore i got a 20.. crackpat nothing lower than a 17. I should have skipped Top front end and done the other questions first and then go back, but o well...Reading comp.. i think i did fine on the first 2 and the 3rd i didnt stick to my technique of reading questions first and writing keywords down.. I didnt expect to do much better than 17.. i wanted 17-19.. i didnt really care.. QR = NO TIME. wth! i was on q 16 with 20 mins left i was like O FKKK!!! haha so i went thru the rest fast and guessed some hard questions and did the easier ones.. for math you dont have time.. if you dont know how to answer it after 1-2reads its difficult b/c of the time.. id recommend kaplan math for this section and maybe go over destroyer math once.. which isnt all that great for dat qr but goes over some basics.
I didnt do achiever b/c my friend told me it will only make me feel depressed lol and i didnt need that as i had already kept it to last minute studying..realy gotta change my study habits esp for dental school which i will be going to in 2 yrs. im 19btw. PAT i really wanted atleast an 18.. i thot i could easily manage that on a bad day.. but i guess i had a reallly Fn bad day haha but its okay im happy that im done with this.. it was killin me .. last 2 weeks were hell.. classes and this.. now i can chill and play some more ps3 with my boys on my lcd! NBA 2k8 OCT. lets gooooo!!

TO do well on this test.. make sure you practice lots of math and rc b/c you have to do well on those to get 20+.. many focus too much just on science.. dont forget the other sections..
on Topscore i avg
17 bio, 20 chem, 21 orgo, 19 rc, 20 math 18-19 pat
TS math is a fkn joke!!!!!! RC on dat wwas maybe a lil more tougher.. but not by all that much.. chem on TS was easier..

on the test... dont lost concentration and start daydream.. snap the fk out of it.. esp not on the PAT part. Oh yeah MY MOUSE!! my mouse was messed up i went one way and it would spazz out and go all over the monitor.. iw as offered in the first 20 misn to retake or something and i didnt care i wasl ike w/e it got better after the science section was over.. spazzed out al ot in the beggining which made it tough to select answers... def wasted a few mins with that..STATION 3 penn plaza dont go there lol.

All in all i am happy to be done and relieved! If your going to take this test for the first time, study properly you do not want to take it again and I won't! F that. and thank god im in a program or I'd actually have to study with more concentration in the summer.. DENTAL IS THE WAY TO GO, SO DONT GIVE UP!!!

oh yeah and take some full practice tests, I didnt.. didnt really care about it.. thought that i could manage a decent score without that.. really didnt have the time or i would have. The longest i spent sitting down on TS was 90 mins science lol.

Good luck to everyone, I hate these kinds of tests. Wish everyone could beat the system! haha

and its not impossible just time consuming.

i would rather not disclose that information but yeah im in a very fortunate position. This field is becoming insanely competitive but it's what I've wanted to be since 9th grade. I grew up doing 100s of volunteer hours at a few dental offices. The kids taht i noticed the school selected generally selected kids with parents who have professional backgrounds and people they know have money. There are 8 kids in my program and i believe 6 out of 8 have doctors orr dentists as parents.. the other 2 i dont know that well. Dental schools love to see that you have money. My friends know of many instances and relations to what I've just stated. Of course its not always true, but I def hear or see more kids with that background go into the field. I got into this program without even having a good gpa or sat scores. I rocked my interviews/

Joint degree programs taht i know of out of high school

St. johns columbia dental
adelphi tufts dental (which is ending)
hartford and uconn
lehigh and upenn
njit and umdnj

I am in one of those and no not NJ.
