Are DAT Achiever readings much easier than the real RCTs?

I got
DAT Achiever Reading 1 = 19 (border of 19 & 20)
DAT Achiever Reading 2 = 18 (felt test 1 was a lot easier)

I got 22 in Achiever 2 RC cuz I think the stock passage is bit easier to read than science... at least for me 🙂 But ur science is too good. I'm pulling just 17, 18 TS average on both Topscore and Achiever, and I'm scared... Monday is coming up... 🙁 62 more hours...

Any ideas? I'm nervous already...

I wish you the best of luck. I'm sure you'll do fine.

I am doomed then.

Did you have to read each passage before going to questions?

nah, i never do, i just scan the passage and look for answers...

Passage skimming works for some people, but it will hardly be the best method in getting the most out of it. What if the question asks to pick the correct/incorrect statement... infer something from the passage... identify the purpose/intent of the author by introducing certain statement/question at the end of a designated paragraph …

You don't have to worry about losing certain info here and there by reading the passage in full as the topics of discussion all dwell with common science issues except for one on share investment (where the chances of getting this financial passage is 1 out 3 or 4 in the real DAT – good for those who have at least seen it in DAT Achiever as the investment recipes on outstanding shares, P/E ratios … are going to be more or less the same in the real stuff).

In the RCT I got, I actually half used the method of skimming for the last passage on Central Nervous System all because I’ve been very familiar with this topic from my Bio prep materials. But that does not mean a casual work of passage browsing. While many of the info could be swiftly captured after reading the first few lines of the paragraphs, I still had to slow down at times just to make sure certain less familiar stuff’re picked up along the way.

Passages in the real DAT are considerably long at least to the slow readers, but with good practices to help overcome common weaknesses and refrain from rereading sentences unnecessarily… most candidates with good science and technical background should not have any problem in getting scores close to the 20s.

Hope the above input helps. :luck:

Wow you guys must be really fast readers or something because its almost impossible for me to read three entire passages AND answer ~17 questions for each passage within 60 minutes.. does anyone actually use the MAP from the whole Kaplan strategy thing? because I've found that slows me down even more....?
