So this isn't a specific Gchem or odd ball bio question, but for those of you who have taken it, how does the day go?

You show up. They check your IDs, drivers license and school ID ok? my school ID doesn't have a signature though...(?)...then they fingerprint you? is it an ink print? or electronic computer recorded? I'd hate to go through the test with ink all over my thumb...haha. Also, are you in your own room, or in a cubicle with a lot of other people around you?

Anything will help. Maybe all you DAT study-ers haven't thought about these details, but being prepared for what you're going to be up against that day may just give you an advantage!

you go in, they check your id, they sit you down and fingerprint you using this ink that can be easily wiped off, and they use a fingerprint device thats hooked up to the computer.

you'll be in a cubicle in a room with other test takers, some of whom are taking the GREs and are typing away. this can be annoying, but thankfully they give you headphones so you can take the test in silence.

go to the testing center an hour early, and just sit there. get familiar with your surroundings, and just...relax. pick your locker, stuff your stuff in there, make sure to take a SWEATER (its freezing in the center, and if not you can always take it off), and bring something sweet to eat with you.

find the bathroom during that hour before the test. this is important...during your break you want to get something to eat from your locker, go to the bathroom and wash your face during those 15 minutes.

above all, make sure to stay calm.

best of luck

Don't know if this helps but I went into the test room assuming I can use the tutorial time to make my scratch paper but I was wrong.. So be aware of that as well.😎

Fromw hat i remember you come in you shwo them your id, preferably one with a signature. Then they give you a key to the locker to place your belongings in. After that you wait in the waiting room until they call your name then they take fingerprints dotn remmeber if it was ink or not but my finger was fine!! They give you scrap paper and you go sit by thte ocmputer you were assigned to then you go through the tutorial and the test begins when you press begin at the end of the tutorial. Hope that helps!

I used the tutorial time to make my scratch paper...why couldn't you?

The proctor told me that I was not allowed to write anything until I start the exam. Asked if I could used my tutorial time to make my set up a table of ABCDE but told me it was not allowed...

did most of you guys use the headphones they give you? or do u feel itll throw you off focus if you're not used to having headphones on?

During my test the proctor told me that if I wore my sweatshirt in the examination room that I couldn't take it off, not even during the break. I'm not sure what for though.

That's ridiculous! I mean I can understand that they would wanna take precautions against cheating but that just going overboard!

I thought the headphones were a stupid idea at first, but then I put them on in the middle of the test, and it was amazing. They were comfortable enough that after 5 min I forgot I was even wearing then; and they blocked out everything so I could concentrate better. The people sitting next to me were taking tests where they were typing essays, and the consistent clicking of the keyboard can be moderately distracting.

Yes, they told us that too, but I'm pretty sure I got hot and took it off for a little bit and no one said anything to me... but of course you can't rely on that happening. I think the best thing to do is take a zip-up shirt, so that you can at least open the zip if you get too hot.
