Hi all,

I had a few questions about the DAT application.

#1- Would it be beneficial to say you are a minority applicant or would it be a deterimant? ( Mind you I am semi-minority.)

#2- Since we can now choose as many colleges as we like before we apply and take the DAT...do you think its best to just send it to a LOT or just select a few? Because will dental schools see the other ones you send it to? and will that then look bad?

THANK YOU!

I'm unsure of what to say to #1, but as for #2:

It depends on your situation. If you have amazing stats then don't waste your money on sending your primary application and then secondary application fees to tons of schools. Also, you will save lots of time and money on interview expenses for schools when you know you have a certain few you really are interested in.

I do think dental schools can see where you have sent your applications too, but I'm not 100% sure. But I don't think you should worry about that. If you don't have amazing stats, then yeah, apply to more schools. I don't see why schools should be upset about it. Most applicants may be real passionate about getting into their number one choice for dental school, but you know what?? Most applicants are real passionate about becoming a dentist. Period. And if they can't get into a few select schools, I don't think it should be held against them for trying to get in somewhere. That's my thoughts. Hope it helps.

For #2 I am pretty sure he means the ADA now lets you pick as many schools as you want for $285 to send the dat scores. I took mine before they did this. But if I was to take it now, I would probably check like 20 schools that I would even be slightly interested in attending. I don't think it matters if a school receives your DAT scores even though you are not applying there?
