Anyone recently taken the DAT and was kinda disappointed at the lack of bio information that was not asked? Took it recently and had no direct questions on endocrinology, neuroscience, mitosis, meiosis, aninal behavior, ecology, F.O.L.M, nothing about what portion of each brain is responsible for. I understand that we cant be asked everything but come on ... what do I care about hemoglobin and what it has to do with llamas and elephants 😎

... and yet, even though you post this, I persevere and am currently learning every little detail about every system that I can. In fact, Endocrinology is on the menu today! I've already had the class, but there are so many hormones and pathways, that it is a full test in itself.

I'll be grateful when they ask what enzyme is released from the gall bladder into the Duodenum to aid in digestion? I believe that is CCK

Biocmp- i forgot to say that the gallbladder does not release any enzymes. The liver produces bile and stores it in the gallbladder. When cholecystokinin is released by the duodenum (small intestine) it triggers the release of bile which is an emulsifying agent ... it increases the surface area of fats so that lipase can do its job and fats can be broken down easier

Yep, that's it. I knew it didn't sound completely right. I just remember duodenum and CCK being linked.... 🙂 😳 🙁

That is probably not a good thing, but I'm busy learning it now.

Elephants and llamas have hemoglobin that has a much higher affinity for O2 than other mammals do, which makes sense given the size and O2 demand of the elephant, and the fact that llamas can survive in high-altitude areas😀

You're right about that fancymylotus .... the samegoes for aquatic species that dive to great depths. I just thought it is less important than what could of been asked. I'm done complaining about the exam its been two days and its time to look ahead and think positive.

not to make u scared or anything..but Nancy told me that taking the dats for the 3rd time pretty much eliminates you from being an appliciant. You may wanna check up on that wid the schools you applied 2!

I think if you show significant improvement even on ur third attempt it will look good....it shows a lot of determination. I havent taken the DAT yet so maybe my opinion sucks....but go into the test confident and i think your results will be positive.
