I took the DAT for the second time this week, and did horrible on the biology section (a 15!!!). I thought the biology section was excruciating this time around, did anyone else feel the same? I took Kaplan test prep, and felt that there was only 1 question that kaplan covered that was on the dat!!! WOW.

My question is:

What does everyone feel is the BEST test prep for the Biology section of the DAT?

Because I will be taking it again for the 3rd time, and I don't feel that kaplan even remotely covered what was on the Bio section of the DAT.

Thanks!!!🙂

The best prep for Biology is going through every single question in your general biology textbook. If you don't know the answer then read the section of the chapter that deals with it.

Campbell's Biology Textbook & Schaum's Biology are both very good. Throw in Destroyer on top of either of those two, and you should be prepared.

If you do destroyer..and understand the concepts of both right and wrong answer choices...you will be in the right direction for a 20.

Romano knows exactly whats on the test, from teaching so many students himself, and therefor focuses the destroyer towards that.

I agree with TheWiredNerv,

for me I found the bio very straight forward for the most part because I am a bio major and have taken upper level bio courses. I used my intro bio text book ALOT to refresh on topics along with my old notes. I really think you look primarily to a good textbook, and use all other things as supplements to it.

Cheers

All I can say is that Kaplan alone is definitely not enough. I used Cliffnotes which helped me alot. I wish I would have used my bio text. Some people also use the Schaum's bio book.

Schaum's biology outline. Pretty much it is the most detailed condensed version of a biology text. If you aren't a bio major I wouldn't suggest it. Pick up a copy of AP Cliff's Biology 3rd edition. I find that is better written and much more easier to understand.

I still think you should hit the bio text book and do the problems in there. I gurantee if you understand all the problems in your bio text there should be no reason why you can't score 23+ on bio.
