So I am taking my DAT in 2 months and the only section that is really scaring me is biology. For gen chem and orgo I am using Chads and destroyer, but all I have been hearing is that bio is really random. Does anyone have a source that can make me feel extremely ready for the bio section?

I haven't taken the DAT yet but I've been using Cliffs AP Biology to study. I also use Campbells and the Kaplan book. My favorite is the Cliffs because everything is explained very nicely. I've heard from people here that Cliffs is pretty good for the exam.

Best of luck!

Cliffs is very good and it is cheep. That is what I used for my dat. I also supplemented it with kaplan and a textbook I had. Go to the ADA DAT user manual and you will find an outline for each section. Just make sure you cover everything on the outline. I believe it is on page 42 or 43. http://www.ada.org/sections/educationAndCareers/pdfs/dat_users_manual.pdf

Bio is a tough section on the DAT your going to want to do a basic review of biology i suggest you get your college textbooks out or get Cliffs AP bio to review once your done with that i would do all the destroyer problems and that should suffice.........Bio has an infinite amount of detail and scope so your going to need to do problems that resemble the ones on the test or at least close to it. Do destroyer and cliffs ap bio and try to make flashcards for bio they will help a lot. Good luck

i would just read cliff's like twice....don't spend too much time studying for bio! it's pretty much hit or miss with that section....they throw a LOT of random ones at you, and it won't matter if you study bio for a month or a year when you get to those questions! focus more on chem. dat destroyer all the way

I studied the most for Bio, I literally had Cliff's AP and Barron's AP memorized. I went through MCAT Kracker's Bio review as well. I had about 4 biology outlines that addressed campbell's material amongst other things. I was also a biology major and had taken many upper division courses. But I only pulled a 20 in Bio while regularly scoring 23-28 on my practice tests. Still upset over this section...

this is exactly the reason why I always advice people to spend most of their science preparation on GC and Orgo.

Its alot easier to get a 25+ on GC and Orgo than biology.... Strategically speaking, your doing your AA and TS a favor by focusing more on the 2 chemistries than the biology.

Very true. I'm glad I took this to heart as well but I just couldn't give up trying so hard for Bio. 🙂

Also, you could check out datQvault.com

They have a bio breakdown thats even more detailed than the one in that ADA pdf. And they have some good taxonomy charts that summarize a lot of info into a chart thats quicker to study.

Campbell book + KBB + Cliff AP bio + Barron's AP bio + lots and lots of practice tests should sum it up

"Pray to "Saraswati Maa" 2 times a day and you will do great on it" my family keeps tell me this...I'm sure you'd understand the meaning lol
