For the people who have taken the Boards part I, did you find any correlations between your DAT score and Board score?

Generally, people who score 20+ on their DATs...do they usually score 90+ on their Boards? I understand that the topics on each test are different, but I'm just wondering what kind of person it takes to score 90 or above on the Boards.

Thanks for any responses.

Ooo....great question! I believe in someways the DAT and the NBDE Part 1 performances do correlate! Check this out:

1) students do well on the DAT and NBDE Part 1 are usually motivated students that wants to succeed. Want to be competitve, specialize and wants the best (school, education, residency and lifestyle)!

2) students do well on both probably are good test takers

But I believe overall, everyone of us has what it takes to excel on these standardized examinations. Our strategies of studying and the amount of time to learn the information may vary, but all in all, we're all capable if we put our efforts in.

I'm sure there are many dental students who did not earn 20+ on the DAT, but scored above 90 or higher on the Part 1 boards.

Maybe I should start an Elite SDN Dental Club called "The 110+ Club" (20+ DAT add to 90+ NBDE Part 1).

Any members?

I have 20/23 on the DAT and 90 on Part 1,

my total = 110

19 AA/ 16 PA Dat; 92 Part 1, 88 Part 2

Personally I see no correlation. Neither NBDE I nor DAT are difficult tests in my opinion. What makes NBDE I difficult is the sheer volume of material that you must know.....which can be very overwhelming. But the test material itself, in my opinion, is not too difficult. Well, anyhow my stats

DAT 20/20. Part 1 avg:95
