hi all,
I'm a junior in college right now and am starting to prepare for the DAT.
Any prep books you guys and gals would recommend using? and also prep courses if they were useful? and any study tips would be helpful too lol..

Thanks!!!🙂

I used a variety of books/review material....and selling most of it since I was accepted. Check the link in my sig if you're interested.

DAT Destroyer for questions
Kaplan DAT blue book for overview of subjects
Kaplan DAT subject tests for questions
Princeton Review Hyperlearning to review biology, chem, and orgo
Cliffs Quick Review for biology, chem, and orgo

For simulated tests:
Crack DAT PAT
Achiever
Topscore

I tried to read over all the review books and focused on the areas that I was weak in before I jumped into taking any simulated tests or went through Destroyer. And when you do the questions/mock tests, be sure to go over the answers and understand why you got questions wrong and learn from them.

Destroyer, Kaplan BB, Cliffs AP Bio and College Chem, Topscore (when you get closer to the date to start practicing and getting yourself set on timing) and crack dat pat

thanks everyone! 🙂

Where do you live. Depending on where you are there may be some great private review courses by you. Kaplans is silly, its too easy and their course and the instructors do not prepare you well for the DAT at all.

I've tried the whole gambit of DAT Prep materials and they're great until you hit something you don't understand. I agree with klutzy1987 about finding a good review course.

You might consider the UMKC School of Dentistry DAT Prep Course. It's being taught by actual professors. They give you the Topscore CD and apparently you get handouts/notes from the professors as well. It's a 1/3 the price of Kaplan and it's done online and it's live so you can ask questions.

The course is delivered by CE Webinar. http://www.cewebinar.com. I'm doing the March session.

hi everyone,
thanks for your replies..i live in NY, go mets! i will definitely look into all your suggestions and make my final choice soon.. thanks again! appreciate it a lot.

Since you live in NY, you should check out orgoman.com. The makers of DAT destroyer have their own prep course. I am signed up for the summer course that starts June 2. If your not far from Staten Island, you should check it out. I am traveling all the way from Stony Brook!

Another good book that I found to help you speed up your math skills is "Secrets to Mental Math", by Aurthur Benjamin. I have only read 1 chapter and I am loving it! Check out the reviews on Amazon. I also recommend Barron's AP Bio book ( I have 2nd edition), MCAT hyper learning, and Crack Pat. Good luck!
