  1. 14. All of the following are universal characteristics of Kingdom Fungi EXCEPT for one. Which one is the EXCEPTION?
    • A. They are heterotrophic.
    • B. Haploid spores are formed via sexual and asexual reproduction.
    • C. They are multicellular organisms.
    • D. Their cell walls are made of chitin.
    • E. They are all eukaryotic.

The answer was C, but duteromycota does not do sexual reproduction so wouldn't be also B correct?

duteromycota is a subset of fungi that doesn't fit well with the rest.

Keywords are universal characteristics of Fungi. You arent looking for small deviations frim the norm.

C is definitely the answer.

does it matter if they fit in well or not? duteromycota is in kingdom fungi regardless (according to cliffs and many other sources) and they were asking universal characteristics meaning what characteristics do ALL organisms under kingdom fungi share.

from google dictionary:

u·ni·ver·sal
ˌyo͞onəˈvərsəl/
adjective
  1. 1.
of, affecting, or done by all people or things in the world or in a particular group; applicable to all cases.
    "universal adult suffrage"
synonyms: general, ubiquitous, comprehensive, common, omnipresent, all-inclusive, all-embracing, across-the-board; More

not saying C is wrong but I don't get how B is true

No choice C is right. Answer B says "Sexual and asexual reproduction".

The question is asking which is an exception. So, in other words, which is false about fungi.
Choice B means sexual and asexual reproduction, so all fungi would fit in.
