hey guys. i was wondering if anyone can clarify something for me. The question in the gen chem test 5 reads:
100 mL of 0.50 M CaCl2(aq) is mixed with 100 mL of 0.25 M H2SO4(aq). What is the final concentration of [Ca2+] in this solution? CaSO4 is insoluble in solution.

The solution says the reaction is Ca2+ + SO4-2 → CaSO4.

How come the reaction isnt showing the Cl2 or H2 reacting?

Maybe im just overthinking it? Thanks!!

CaSO4 is insoluble, but HCl is soluble. Since the Cl- and H+ were both in aqueous form before the reaction and are still aqueous (soluble) after the reaction, they are not in the net ionic equation (that you have posted above).
