I was wondering what you all were scoring on Bootcamp RC going into your test and what you scored on the real RC.

I scored have been as follows on RC bootcamp:
16, 18, 18, 19, 20

Test in 7 days.

Thank you

On BC my RC was 18/19/26/22/20 and I got a 25 on the real thing. The real wasn't as bad as BC but both were still pretty similar.

I used a method that was sort of my own thing. I would read the first 3-5 paragraphs and try to answer the first couple of questions. If I couldn't answer the first couple within those paragraphs I would just skim until I could. It sounds funny, but it worked for me. And by not as bad but similar, I mean that on my actual DAT, there were some tone and true and false questions just like DAT BC, however they didn't require as much insight as the DAT BC ones did. The answers were easier to key in on in the reading. Whereas, I felt with the T and F and tone on DAT BC, I felt it was harder and took longer to find some of them. Also the general knowledge questions were a lot easier and more direct than BC. Although DAT BC did prepare me a lot for the actual RC, I was also always pretty good at RC anyways, so this may have helped.

^This strategy is golden. I just used it today and got a 22 on the real RC of the DAT

On bootcamp I went from a 16 to a 20 just by switching from the risky search and destroy to this technique. Then I went from a 20 to a 23 on the next bootcamp RC practice test. When I first see the passage, I look at the maximum number of paragraphs and divide by two. I tell myself to read only up to those paragraphs and then answer as many questions as I can until I can't answer anymore with that knowledge. Then, I read some more until i can answer the next question. It WORKS and is so much safer than search and destroy because you are actually reading the material and understanding it. Furthermore, you won't be panicking because you know you've answered some questions already. There was a passage today that had 12 paragraphs and just from reading 6 I could answer more than half of the questions.

I thought bootcamp had too many "First statement is true, second is false", but there were 5-6 of those on my exams. Also, there were a few tone questions that you need to have a general idea of the passage. The WORST was that there were math questions on my reading! I am not even good at math lol.

I took the DAT 2013 and 2015, and my score for reading decreased by one. The passages were easier for 2015 though.

I will try it for the next two practice DATs that I have left to do before my real thing!

My scores on BC were 19,18,21,24, didn't take the 5th.

Made a 24 on the real thing. I only had one tone question and the rest could be found with search and destroy. I think my reading was easier than normal but BC seems to estimate pretty close!

when you say that you answer as many as you can until you can' answer anymore with that knowledge, do you cycle through all of the questions? or do you mean when you hit your first question that you're unable to answer, you go back to the readings

For me it was until you hit one you didn't know, then you would start skimming instead of reading, only if you had already read the first 3-5 paragraphs.

BC scores: 18, 22, 19, 21, 20

Real DAT: 22

On the real dat the passages weren't as long, and definitely had less true/false/tone questions than BC.

The technique I used was before I would read the passage I would skim over the first few questions and make mental notes. Then I would read and keep reading until I could answer one of the questions. Then I would look at more questions and go back to reading. I would repeat this process until I have read the entire passage. After reading the entire passage I went back and did the questions I couldn't do. I always had enough time leftover to go back for these questions. I allowed myself 20 mins per passage.
