For starters, I want to give the most eternal of thanks to Dr. Romano, Nancy, Feralis, and Ari from Bootcamp. I feel bad for everyone who will be taking their DAT when you all are no longer on these forums, because your help is truly invaluable for us hopeful pre-docs.

Overall the whole thing seemed easier than all the practice material with the exception of PAT and QR. The PAT was...weird.. I would say Bootcamp is most representative, but the keyholes were something else, the shapes were so distorted and strange, but everything else seemed pretty on par. The pattern folding part seemed less "modern" than Bootcamp, maybe a little like qvault? The only thing I found really annoying during the test was the actual laminated sheets and the markers. I used my tutorial to set up my PAT section, set that entire sheet aside for 90 minutes, and then when I started doing the keyfolds, halfway through I noticed that my hand smudged most of the cube counting and tic tac toe boxes. I was pretty annoyed, and also my two markers started to give out, I made sure to switch them out during the break.

QR has never been my best subject, but I still found this to be a little harder than Bootcamp and Qvault tests. . I was averaging a 22+ on those and I only got a 19 here. I would say probably Math Destroyer is best to practice this; I went through each test once, but I think my mistake was I put it aside and really started focusing more on the sciences in my last month. (Protip: Try using the number pad, I tried the numlock on my keyboard and was able to use the number pad to do calculations)

I never really practiced RC because the few tests I took on Bootcamp/Topscore I scored well, so I didn't really worry much about this section. Basically if you consider yourself an average or above average reader (or if you enjoy reading, in general) you'll do fine on this. I would say I had around a 60/40 split of S&D based questions/tone questions. The passages I had weren't boring at all I thought, and were about 10-14 small to medium-sized paragraphs.

For BC and GC I cannot stress enough how much you need to use Destroyer for these sections. That is single handedly the best resource you can use to test your understanding of the bio section and help you prepare. I went through the bio section around 3x, all I can say is use that as your bible and it will not let you down! I would say the actual DAT is in between Destroyer and Bootcamp in terms of difficulty and randomness of questions. I used Qvault also, which I thought was good for bio, because any practice is good practice and the questions definitely made me think. Chad is the man, we all know this by now, so I looked through all of his videos for GC and then for bio. Also, Craig Savage on youtube has some great ways of visualizing the taxonomy systems. I ended up looking through all of his videos. In the second half of my studies, I began using Feralis Notes to tie up all any loose ends. His notes are very thorough and provides you with very detailed information. Bio definitely had some questions out of left field that I marked and came back to later, a couple of lab questions but most of them were straight forward. In my last week I was averaging a 25 on both of these sections on Bootcamp and QVault. I did a final run through of Destroyer Bio a few days before the test, and I definitely noticed very similar questions on the actual test. Topscore was okay in terms of seeing a rough format of the actual test, but overall I thought it was a little too easy and not very representative of my test.

I didn't study much for OC because I had just taken orgo 1 and 2 this past year and with As in both, and I had just taken my orgo 2 final a week before my actual DAT. The OC section was straightforward, some lab techniques (make sure to look at Chad's videos for a good run down on orgo lab techniques) and not much NMR (thank god).

Overall, my study materials consisted of (MUST HAVES) Destroyer, Chad's Videos, DAT Bootcamp, Feralis Notes and (Recommend for additional practice) DAT Qvault and Topscore.

Bottom line, this test is very doable. Have faith in yourself!

Well said.

Good job!

Haha this breakdown mirrored what I thought about mine a lot especially for QR RC and PAT
Those rock shapes are weird huh?

You killed it! Awesome work!
Great advice!

Congratulations!!!! Hard work always pays off....You understood clearly their are not short cuts to a high DAT score and rose to the challenge and Destroyed it! I am so happy our materials were part of your arsenal and helped your achieve your goals.

Good luck in the application process and keep us posted!

Nancy and Dr. Jim Romano

Wow. All the sciences are over 20!!!!
Congratulations and thanks for the breakdown.

Great scores congratulations! I am going through the Destroyers now, hope to take my DAT in a few months. Thanks for the breakdown it's very helpful.

There was definitely stats, it didn't ask about p values but you should definitely know the bell curve, and I would know when to reject versus accept the null hypotheses just to be safe

Well darn. I forgot all my stats from like 3 years ago. Did it come up often?

@orgoman22 does the current math or dat destroyer cover these pvalues and statistics stuff that 3rdgendds mentioned?

Destroyer is pretty good about honing in on the topics you should know, so I would say if you understand the answers then you're set. For me, I remember looking through youtube videos until I found one that explained the topic well enough. Then I would test myself using Destroyer

Alright cool thanks!

Congrats, dude! Great scores. We both took the test in May and ended up doing similarly. I'm glad you thought the PAT was a little weird too. Keyholes looked pretty distorted for me. I feel like we took the same test copy! Lol... good luck with apps.
