Hey guys,
I know my score is not that high compare to a lot of people on SDN but it is always my dream to do a post like this so here it goes 🙂
MY BC SCORE 18-21/ no more and no less so i guess thats a good thing for people doing BC NOW 🙂
PAT: 19
QR:19
Biol:22
RC: 23
GC:22
OC:21
TS:22
AA:21
Resources : DAT BC/ DAT DESTROYER 2016/ CLIFFS !!
BIOL: like most students, I used Cliff 3rd, DAT Bootcamp and DAT destroyer 2016 for preparation. On the real Dat, I think DAT destroyer is the best source since I actually see a few exact questions on the real DAT in Dat destroyer ( sorry I can not tell you which ones 🙂. For those with average memory like me, I write down statement I do not know on index cards and review those notes every weekend. If you do not have time, give 2 days reviewing the notes before the exam so you can put in in your short-term memory , it seems pretty risky but it worked for me.
GC: For this section, I think DAT Bootcamp is your guidance, The questions are super similar like calculating pH concentration or dilution. The real Dat is easier in this section compare to DAT Bootcamp. Watch Chad's videos and practice GC on BC is all you need.
OC: This section is harder on the real DAT than dat bootcamp. On the real Dat, I got about 3 freaking reagent/ reaction questions. The rest was like- which one is more acidic or stable. Which substance will reaction first in water, etc. YOU REALLY NEED TO MEMORIZE THE NAME OF THE REAGENT. I got like 4 questions involved name of the reagents which i luckily knew. THE MRI APPEARED ALOT TOO SO LOOK INTO IT !!!! I can not speak for the other exams but do not count on reagents alone to get you the score you wanted. I recommend DAT destroyer btw since it covers more than just reagents.
PAT: PAT was easier on the actual exam compare to DAT BC. However, I found the keyholes section more difficult. The angle ranking and pattern holding were much easier.
draw extra boxes for the Cube counting section btw since some shape only gives 2 questions instead of 3 like BC.
RC: I am really feel bad for saying this but BC is probably the worst source for this section. On the real Dat, questions were words by words, the first 5 questions will be on the first 5 paragraphs and so on.MUCH EASIER. I get 3 passages with 15/17/24 paragraphs, so I definitely not recommend reading all of it. I did search and destroy method which increases my score from 16 to 23 on real DAT. BC is harder on this section which is not necessary a bad thing, but it gives us a great deal of stress (bad practice scores) which we do not need before the exam. If you do not have time, focus more on science. You can not really study for this section. I did like 2 readings and gave up half way 🙁 .
QR: AND BACK TO BC being the greatest source for practice on this section. If you were wondering about studying math destroyer or math on BC. Stick with BC. Their questions were very similar to the real DAT. Dat Destroyer is good, but their materials are too broad compare to real DAT. You really need to know how to do velocity/distance/dilution. I spent ton of times working on those yet freaked out and screwed it up. This section is the harder for me since I freaked out ALOT and working on the provided board instead of paper will definitely slow you down. Go do a test drive at your center. My friend from a different city (same state) said they get a ultra fine marker ( small tip like a pencil) while I got an actual marker. I have to switch out my board 2 times since the marker takes too much space. ---------------------NO TRIG AT ALL !!!!!
Well, Hope you guys find my breakdown helpful and best of luck !!!!
