Hey everyone, after reading so many breakdowns, and getting so much advice from sdn, I thought it was time to write my own. I went into the DAT today not knowing what to expect, I've been on a journey studying for this exam since September while taking 15 credits. I was dying to get it over with. All I can say is that if you put it in the work the DAT is very do-able. I was freaking out 5 days before because I got an 18 on topscore, however dont let top score discourage you, simply use it to see how the format of the exam is .

Btw: I have a 3.3 gpa planning on going to an out of state school, Do you guys think my scores are good enough to apply? I still have one semester and the summer semester left so Im planning on boosting my gpa and getting all A's in my final classes.
My scores : QR:16 PAT:17 Bio: 20 GChem:20 OChem: 25 Reading: 20 TS: 21 AA:20
What I used to study :
1. Cliffs AP Bio
2. Barrons AP Bio
3. Feralis notes
4. DAT Booster
5.DAT Destroyer
6.Chads Bio/genchem/orgo videos
7. DAT Bootcamp
8. Topscore

Bio: I was terrified for the biology section, because they can ask you about so many topics. I read Feralis about 3 times, Destroyer I did twice, and four days before my exam I reread the solutions they are golden ! Also I tried the DAT booster, and had a lot of questions come straight from that book, the solutions were nicely organized into tables that I liked. Read Cliffs Bio, it will give you a good foundation before reading Feralis. The biology on the DAT wasnt as bad as I expected it to be , not a lot of genetics (thankfully), or plants !

Chem: Not as bad as I expected it to be, I was really stressing the DAT and I thought I was going to run into weird topics luckily I didnt. DAT destroyer really helps in this section . I went throught the whole Id say three times. Chads videos definitely help , and DAT BOOTCAMP !! It was spot on with many questions on my DAT. If you know the DAT destroyer, DAT bootcamp and Chads youll definetely do well on this section !! On the actual DAT their wasnt that many calculations it was mostly conceptual. Know your lab techniques !!

O-chem: Ive always loved organic chemistry, I did the DAT destroyer, DAT Bootcamp, Destroyer Odyssey and Chads. DAT odyssey is a bit of overkill for this section but it shows you the hardest question that you can find. (aka all the exceptions) , and I like how it separates each topic into sections. Also DAT Destroyer is awesome ! If you know it again you will succeed ! especially know those roadmaps. Ochem on the DAT was simple no weird reactions like suzuki or acetoacetic. If you know Chads, Bootcamp and Destroyer youll be fine !!

PAT/QR/ RC: I despise PAT and QR, these were the sections I practiced for the least. For Pat I used DAT Bootcamp, it was always one of my weaknesses. However with practice you can definetely get better, also there are youtube videos on PAT which are very helpful. PAT on the actual exam wasnt that bad considering I was getting 15's in Bootcamp's PAT. QR : I did like 5 practice test in the MAth Destroyer, but I didnt really pay much ttention to math since I was so worried about my sciences. However MATH DESTROYER will prepare you if not over prepare you for this section ! This section was not too complicated, and had easier problems than those found in the Destroyer. The Reading comprehension section I didnt practice for, only did the reading in topscore and got 19's. The reading on the exam had 2 easy passages and one difficult. Definetely if you dont find an answer quick, mark it and skip it ! (goes for all sections in the DAT)

Excuse my typos*

Congratulations on your great scores, very nice 23 in Orgo. You have an excellent plan to focus on your remaining classes to boost your GPA as high as possible. It's always a good idea to contact the schools you are applying to with your stats and get their requirements for acceptance. I see no reason you would not get interviews with your current scores.

Job well done!
take care..Nancy

Great job !!!! Very happy for you that you got it over with .. It's a great feeling !!

hi .. Congratulations on your scores !! you did great , I have a question, you said know your lab techniques, You mean gen chem labs ?? + did chad cover them ?

hey what videos did you use exactly for chads? Im looking at DAT Bootcamp and it says 7 chapters of gen chem and 6 of organic chem, but I think he means of the 2012 HD videos and not regular 2012 videos.. What did you use?
