Hey peeps!

I took my DAT today and OMG it was really something lol I finished the science section with 15 minutes to spare..how does that even happen!?
Well anyway, here are my scores! Btw, I got destroyed in math 🙁 Praying that the adcoms interview/admit me!
TS 24/AA 21---Bio 24/GC 22/OC 27/RC 20/QR 14/PAT 20

I studied for about a month and half. This was my second time taking the DAT. The first time, I used the bootcamp study sched, took it in February during the semester from science hell (bad decision lol) and made TS 19/AA 20---Bio 22/GC 19/OC 18/RC 21/QR 18/PAT 18 (dat 4 pt QR drop doe...). Despite my horrific QR score, I did much better overall than the first time I took the DAT.

For bio, I used Cliff's AP Bio book, which was helped A LOT! I was actually surprised I remembered so much from this book because I only read the whole thing once within 5 days, and that was about 2 weeks ago..

For the chemistries, I used chadsvideos.com. SO MUCH BETTER THAN COURSESAVER! And it's FREEEE! The quizzes on chads actual website will help you ace those DAT bootcamp chemistry tests! Course saver is honestly a joke compared to his direct videos. HOWEVER, Chad is going through some sort of dispute with course saver so he took down the DAT-specific GC vids (but the quizzes are still there). There is another section for GC, I just haven't looked at it so I don't know what it covers. For OC on chadsvids, I recommend using the Organic chem for ACS final videos/quizzes as they are most helpful. Overall, chadsvids goes into much more detail, which is super helpful because it ensures that you understand the material. And the quizzes...super similar to bootcamp just without the lab techniques.

For everything DAT-related, I used DAT Bootcamp. My goodness was this helpful!
My THOROUGH DAT BC breakdown:
Bio 26/30/23/26/25
GC 24/22/26/24/20
OC 27/29/21/20/20
QR 19/18/17/16/18/17/16/16/16/16/16
RC 18/17/20/23
PAT 19/20/20/20/20/17/18/18/18/18

I also used DAT genius, but my DAT did not have many similar questions to it..I used it for GC, OC, BIO, and RC. The only section that really helped me was RC because it was most representative of the real thing. Its a good resource to test what you know, but to me, it was very calculation dense for GC, and my DAT just didn't have very many calculations at all. OC was somewhat helpful. I pretty much just used DAT genius as additional practice. It never hurts to practice as much as you can, even if what you practice doesn't show up on the exam. They also have rock keyhole problems for PAT!! I think I may have only gotten 2 rock keyhole problems on my DAT today and using this resource would've helped a ton.

I did use DAT Destroyer for GC and OC, but only got through about 80 problems for each. The raodmaps for OC will save your life!!! Memorize them like crazyyyy, and if it helps, think about the mechanisms for each, as that will help you understand and retain the info even better (at least it did for me).

Wow, I just realized how long this post is!!! Bottom line: PRACTICE! When you think you've had enough, PRACTICE MORE! Honestly, studying for the DAT twice made me miserable, but my scores (minus QR) are reflective of my hard work. Speaking of QR, I honestly don't know what happened! My DAT QR section was like nothing I've ever seen...I thought I would at least breeze through half of it. I was WTFing almost all the questions and I guessed on the last 6 because I ran out of time. Come to think of it, I think if I managed my time better, I could've pulled a 17 or maybe even an 18 🙁 But it's all good. Every test is different.

Just read Cliffs AP Bio (tbh its a biology bible lol its the only bio resource you need besides BC), watch chads vids (if you prefer coursesaver vids then go for it, BUT I STRONGLY urge you to take advantage of Chadsvideos.com quizzes!), you can use DAT destroyer if you want more practice, but I don't think its necessary. However, those OC roadmaps are everything, so you should AT LEAST go through those. As for PAT, RC, and QR, you just need to practice your butt off. I sucked at PAT the first time I took it, and I got a 20 this time, which isn't outstanding, but its an achievement for me! QR...you just never know what you're gonna get..same with the rest of the test. SO PRACTICE!

Okay..My brain is done vomiting for the day. Let me know if you guys have any questions! I'd be glad to help 🙂

I briefly used Chadsvideos.com as well and found them useful. Although unfortunately, the free videos/quizzes have been taken down. Congrats on your score !!

Very interesting... I'd still retake because some schools have a DAT cutoff of 14-17 regardless of section. But definitely your score shows potential.

BTW my personal experience with DAT Bootcamp is "okay." I liked the extra practice and the PAT was very helpful, but Bootcamp actually gives you higher scores than the actual test. I've gotten 25/26 consistently on Ochem and 27 on QR, but the actual DAT gave my 21 for Ochem and 23 for QR. Just keep that in mind.

Do not get any consult for your low dat section in SDN. Email admission offices or visit nearest dental school from your home. Qr is the least considered section, and your high AA and TS may par your lowest score. Good luck on your application.

I don't think I'd retake, but I don't know your GPA. QR isn't important. Some schools won't like it but people do get accepted with 14s in it.

You did well! Eh no retakes necessary, schools generally don't really care about QR (this is coming from someone who scored 27 in QR). Your 24TS is more than worth keeping.

No, I'm not saying his overall DAT is bad, I'm saying that some schools have a strict cutoff and that yes, like you said, it's a good idea to call individual schools and see what their policy is.

Yeah I was freaking out when I saw the 14 QR, but I'm not retaking unless they tell me I'll be guaranteed admission if I do so. I want my freedom lol But your QR score is freaking amazing! That's higher than what I normally see in breakdowns.

I got a 16 on QR and it brought down my AA to a 21 as well, don't worry, and I only had a 23 TS , you have a 24! you'll be fine, out of the extraneous non science sections, the only one I've ever really heard some schools really caring about was the reading anyway
Ohmygah what a relief! May I ask what your stats were when you applied, and which schools you applied to/interviews? Congrats on getting into Columbia! You get to officially meet Ari from bootcamp if he's still there lol

I briefly used Chadsvideos.com as well and found them useful. Although unfortunately, the free videos/quizzes have been taken down. Congrats on your score !!
Thank you! Oh, did the quizzes get taken down this week?? When do you take your DAT?

I sound like a broken record, but what I meant is retake ONLY if the schools says you need to. The way people over-analyze over word choice on SDN makes me wonder why all the premeds and predents aren't applying for law school lol.

Sad very few schools care about QR, same can be said for my non-sci GPA.

Lol I understand. Hopefully we get in.. that's the important thing! Good luck applying 🙂

I checked it yesterday and the videos/quizzes weren't there  I think Chad was going through some dispute with coursesaver.
I took my DAT in February. I'm a Chem major so i just ended up ditching Chad's and ended up doing Destroyer only. But Chad is awesome in teaching you conceptual Chemistry. Highly recommended.

So i just scored a 14 on qr for one of my practice exams no prior studying should i be in trouble exam on agust 23rd

If you had no prior studying what did you expect? You have well over a month which is plenty of time.
