Hey guys,

So I just got finished with the DAT and I'm not sure how to feel about my score.
Here is the breakdown:

Perceptual Ability 15
QR 16
RC 20
Biology 19
Gen Chem 19
Organic Chem 25
Total Science 20
Academic Average 20

I'm wondering how important the perceptual ability score is. I feel like all other sections are ok except that one. What do you guys think?

Also, I have a 4.0, extensive community service, leadership and shadowing hours that make for a well-rounded applicant.

Unfortunately, I think you need to retake. the 15 PAT and 16 QR are pretty low and are probably below the cut offs for most schools. Just practice a little more and use Crack DAT PAT and you'll be fine!

great scores! QR is okay since many schools don't really care about this section. Your PAT is low so I would say call up the schools you have/want to apply to and explain your situation. They can give you the best answer if a re-take is necessary or not.

I feel like your ok. I've went through the interview process and was wait-listed. I was told your AA and TS is the most important scores.

this is a tough one. id say retake. the only school that i know of that has a 15 min is USC.

try calling up your state school too, bc your aa and ts are good

I have similar if not worst DAT stats 🙁...

I have a 3.85 oGPA and 3.90 sGPA. Lots of EC's like 1300+ shadowing , 500+ dental assisting work experience and 200 hrs of experience in dental laboratory (wax-up/ model work), 3 very good LORs and one from a dentist/ clinical instructor from USC.

MY POINT IS:
Even with all these extra stuff on the side and good GPA... I dont think I have a chance anywhere even at USC ( called admissions and they told me 15 is their cutoff 🙁). Btw i got my first rejection from Loma Linda due to low RC (16) and PAT (18). So DONT apply to that school because they will reject you for sure for that 15 on PAT. At least you dont have any secton that is below 15. So you still have some chance dont worry if you applied early you will get in somewhere.

Anything below 16 in any section besides QR indicates the need to retake. PAT is important to some schools and not so important to others but I think 15 is probably too low for most schools. Just my opinion...I would retake
