Good morning all, I just got done with the DAT yesterday and I am extremely happy it is over although I was aiming for at least 20 in the PAT. Here are my scores

Bio 19 (83.5%)
General Chem 26 (99.2%)
Orgo 22 (94%)
PAT 18 😡 (55.3%)
QR 18 (86.6%)
RC 18 (52.2%0

Total science 21 (96.2%)
Academic Average 21 (97.2%)

I will start off with the sciences. Bio is very random and I thought it was the hardest section in the science section of the real DAT. It is very general that you may get stuff that are not necessarily hard but have`not heard of!! It really depends on your background and how strong your bases are in the undergrad classes. I did Cliff once, Kaplan BB once, Destroyer twice, Qvault once. In every test I made, I got a 19 and I was hoping to hit a 20 in the test since some ppl said if you get 19s in qvault you will get at least 20 in the real DAT. So I guess it depends on what kind of questions and what version you would get. I had like 4 of the WTH questions in the real thing.

Gen Chem is the subject I love 🙂 I got what I expected in this section. My undergrad Gen Chem classes over-prepared me for this test. I probably missed the lab questions on the dat and got a 26. I pretty much studied only destroyer for this section and did 5 of the qvault and found them really easy. In the real DAT you will get questions that are as hard as the destroyer and as easy as the quvalt. I definitely recommend both.

Organic Chem is all about practicing. for those who did not take orgo 1 and 2 I am not sure how on earth would they pass it. However, If you took these courses and really got the material then I can assure you that it would be the least subject you would ever have to study for in the DAT. the questions are simple and very obvious and I dont know why did I get 22. I had only one hard question (Robinson annulation) which I hated and refused to learn 😀 But other than that everything else was straight forward. I did destroyer and some of the qvault.

PAT 😡😡😡 This is the reason why I am not completely happy. I have no idea what happened here. I practiced crack DAT PAT and for the first four tests I was getting 18-20. After the fourth test my scores jumped and started to get 23s and at the end 25s from the first attempt. I was confident until I hit real PAT. I do not know if it is just me but I thought It was really hard compared to the crack! Keyhole was harder. TFE was crazy hard. angle ranking was probably easier. Hole punching was a bit harder. cube counting was the same. and pattern folding was realllly hard. I was shaking really bad in the test and I ended up with 18🙁🙁 For this section I did crack and top scores in which I got 20,20,21 in the three tests respectively.

RC: my weakest section. English is my second language, I was only hoping to score 17 or higher, so I am happy with this score. I did crack and was averaging 16s in the first 5 tests then started getting 17s and 18s. I think crack is a great software and a bit harder than the real test since there are less tone question in the real DAT.

QR: 80% similar to the destroyer. just do destroyer. practice a lot and time yourself. For me I didnt really spend a lot of time on it. I did the 13 destroyer tests and repeated only the first 5 once again. I usually hear that RC and QR are not very important compared to the sciences and the PAT, so overall I am happy except for the PAT score which I am not sure if it is gonna get me anywhere!

I Know my scores are not perfect, but I hope some of the ppl in this amazing network would benefit from my experience. I used to read a lot of breakdowns and I used to wonder if I would ever have the chance to write my own breakdown one day. Good luck for everyone :luck::luck:

PS. for ppl who have similar scores, would you please tell me what are my chances.
I applied late (October). My overall GPA: 3.93 and science GPA: 4.0.

I have somewhat similar scores and looking for feedback as well. You can find my link on the page. The only difference is that I am applying next year's cycle.

@HKBB Yea I just saw your thread 🙂 good job on the sciences! I am a senior and thats why I applied this cycle. I am taking my chance and if I dont get in this year, I will apply again next cycle.
Good luck to you 🙂

Solid performance on the sciences. You definitely have a shot in getting in if you have good recommendation letters, good amount of volunteering/shadowing and a good GPA. Good luck.

Your overall gpa is 3.9 and science is 4.0 and your dat is 21 which is probabl in the 90th percentile. You want people to give you their opinions? Are you trolling? Whats wrong with ANY of your scores? Jesus....

Thank you guys I truly appreciate your feedbacks, I am feeling a lot better now🙂🙂

@spoog74 I am probably over concerned because I applied late. While I know my GPA is perfect and my AA and TS are in the competitive scores range, I also know that some schools give the PAT score a great deal and since mine is 18 ( which is not very appealing ) I was trying to ask ppl with similar scores Whether that is going to affect me! I am not trolling or anything and I think I mentioned in my breakdown that I am happy with everything I got except for the pat! I have also read some threads for ppl with acceptable and good scores considered repeating the DAT and I only wanted to know if my scores are good enough to keep for the next cycle and whether a repeat would be only a waste.Thank you anyways for you input!

With that GPA and a 21 I would be surprised if you didn't get into anywhere.

Congrats on the 21!

Thank you, as you now every DAT post is a great feeling to see, congrats on your score , not bad, but PAT could of been better.

Nice post

Finallyyyy so happy to be part of the class of 2017 🙂😉

i dont understand why ppl put up their score first of all. is it to brag? hmmm... or is he really that unsure of whether he can make it into dental school with THAT score? Unless I see ppl with 18 or less score (or maybe 19), I think they want ppl's attention, period. :meanie::meanie::meanie:

A 21 is a good score but its hardly a score worth bragging about. The OP probably posted this to help others studying for the DAT or to talk with like minded people about the process of getting into D school. I kind wanna brag about my 24 but I'm too lazy to write a breakdown 😛

Congrats on the acceptance. You did well.
