Hello Everyone!!

I've been looking at the ada website to see if there's an image of their "basic" calculator but I can't find it. I'm wondering if anyone has found it on the ada page? If not, I've heard that it's almost the same as in windows, is this true? does it have the square root key? I just want to have an idea of the size and keys it provides. I am planning not to use it but I just want to cover all my bases. Thanks in advance!🙂

I just took the test less than a week ago. The calculator is great. It is basically the same as the windows calculator, and yes it has a sqrt key, I think it actually says "sqrt" instead of having the root icon. There might have been subtle differences, but I couldn't quite put my finger on them.

I was impressed with how responsive and fast it was. I heard some pretty bad stories about people having lag in their calculator during the QR. Mine was as fast and speedy as the windows one. BUT, and this is a big BUT, a couple occasions I could have sworn I clicked the clear key but for some reason it didn't clear everything, so when you go to clear something, give it a good double click just for good measure. Alternatively, I found this out during the test, when you're done with a calculation, just X out the calculator and that will clear everything.

I had a terrible calculator which was fairly laggy. Its the basic windows calculator with a few extra buttons the size of the buttons is pretty big since the screen resolution of the monitor is pretty low (or was at least in my center). The only problems with the calculator are: that you have to enter carefully and slowly (enter 0.54 and not .54 and do it slowly or it'll only enter 054 or something else incorrect)

By and large you don't want to rely too heavily on the calculator. If you can do 50% of the test without the calculator, it helps you a LOT in the other 50%

Great! Thanks FaithBuild18 and Ushaseos for the info! I have read alot about the lag time in between the numbers. It seems that there's more negative comments about it though. I will be practicing without it and if in test day I notice is not lagging, i might use it, if not then I'm prepared to be without it (or at least not rely on it). I think that should cover my bases.

took the test this morning and used the calculator for about half of the questions. It worked pretty well. The only thing you have to be very careful about is clearing the calculator and making sure it is really cleared! Other than that the lag time wasn't too slow.

OMG I had the same issue!

Mine was terribly slow and I had to double check each number to make sure it had entered it. But based on some other responses in here, it seems like it might just depend on your testing center.

Just go slow with it and don't let it frustrate you

NGuyenDDS!That was exactly what I was looking for!! Thank You!! I was just looking at the wrong site! jaja.

@ Menouski: I hope my center doesn't have a laggy calc!!!

Took my DAT a couple weeks ago and it looks just like the one NguyenDDS posted.

Also, mine was a big laggy :/

It was frustrating cause you had to give about a half a second between clicks for the calculator to completely register the input and make sure to hit clear a couple of times!
