CH3CH2OH ---->1)PCC, CH2CL2 2)OH-, H20 3) heat ------>?

Can somebody please explain this question to me. Thanks

aldol condensation

two acetaldehydes react.

PCC will give you acetaldehyde

OH- rips off an alpha hydrogen, now that attacks carbonyl of another acetaldehyde. This results in hydroxy group on beta position

Heat removes or "eliminates" the hydroxy group as water to form a double bond.

hope this helped. I wish I could draw this lol.
