DAT destroyer..absolutely necessary?

Hello

I am a poor poor poor college student

I am studying really hard and taking maximum amount of credit I can take so I can get my BA as soon as possible since I am taking out loan and such.

I have about ~400 dollar to spend on my DAT material and it is already a lot for me.

I know dental school is not going to be cheap either but right now, I can't spend more than that and it is hard to get help from my parents since they are already paying for $385 for DAT exam fee.


Here is question
I am taking Chad's video for gen chem and Ochem

but is DAT destroyer and Math destroyer ABSOLUTELY necessary if I want to get 20 or above on DAT?
Since every DAT break down that is above 20 said they used DAT destroyer and I am not sure I should spend money one DAT destroyer OR buy some other DAT practice programs.


Please Help before I make stupid decision.

invest in the dat destroyer and chads videos. the math destroyer is a waste, in my opinion. no one really cares about math as long as you get like 17 and above

Try looking on ebay for cheaper versions. u sometimes even get get Destroyers along with KBB etc for cheap prices but yes the Destroyer is extreamly helpful

The Math destroyer is great practice but if your tight on money try saving and getting other material

If you have any pre-dental friends, you could save a lot of money by borrowing their materials or buying used. It's good that you already have Chad's videos, you should also look into his QR videos as well. They are really short compared to his chemistry series but his explanations were great and really helped me with combinations and permutations. I would disagree with Math Destroyer being a waste of money. It contained all types of questions that I was asked on my DAT. For my own test prep, I bought Cliff's AP Bio, Chad's videos, DAT/Math Destroyer, CDP, TopScore and Achiever. If I were to cut anything from that list it would have to be Achiever. Good luck with your studies

Taking the DAT without the destroyer is like going to a battle without a gun.
Invest in the destroyer it's worth it.

I think the single most useful thing in destroyer is the Orgo roadmap.

Fortunately for you, the DAT Destroyer is a patient and merciful resource. Alas, question its worth again, and you will see a side of the Destroyer you will not soon forget.

I agree. It is a must have. Many great problems in the newest addition. If you want to save some money you can get the older vesrions, but you will be missing out on some new problems.

DAT destroyer is a must have imo... not only that, it retains its value better than other dat study materials....and if you keep it in good condition you can sell it on ebay for almost as much as what you paid for it. For me all I "really" spent on the dat destroyer after selling it was 15 buckos

Check my breakdown for info. But in short, it is an absolutely necessary. Don't regret that the reason you got less than 20 was because you were trying to save money by not getting the best material out there. I felt like some questions were really directly from destroyer.

I'm going to take a slightly different approach and say it's not necessary. I did use it, but I didn't use it nearly as much as reviewing Chad's and I got a pretty good score.

That said I was glad to have it and I definitely sold it for ~75% what I paid for it, so that was a great point by ordinaryasian.

Destroyer just helped me get some practice in on some concepts, but I thought the questions were way harder than the real thing. I got around 50% correct on my first time through and about 75-80% on my second time through. I would say the Bio section helped the most since it helped with giving more breadth of information.

You really need to buy the destoyer. Think about it as an investment, you don't want to retake it. I. Spent about $700 dollars and it was worth it.

Unpopular opinion, but I wasn't a fan of the Destroyer. I sound like a broken record because I've posted this on so many threads, but really, its main effect is that it makes you feel like crap and discourages you.
If you can thoroughly understand and apply everything Chad teaches, you are ABSOLUTELY set for a 20+. I did the Destroyer, but I don't think it was worth the ridiculous number of hours. It also took a huge shot to my confidence. It's so much harder than the real thing.
I'm not saying that going through it would hurt, but if you do, don't let it get you down. Think of it as more practice, but don't think of it as being representative of the test.

Check craigslist. I've seen quite a few on there lately. There is also someone selling fake copies and PDF versions but I wouldn't trust these because you never know if some pages are missing.

Do NOT buy a fake copy or a PDF version! It's illegal! They'll sue you. There's a big warming at the beginning of the destroyer.
