So I'm going thru my 2nd round of the Gen Chem section of the Destroyer (2009) and I'm not doing too bad. Did 47 questions just now and got 32 correct (a LOT better than my previous 8 correct out 30 my first attempt. I just hope it's not bc I somewhat recognize the answer 😳). I do have a question for all those who took their DAT... How many times did you have to balance out an equation in terms of coefficients? Not in terms of oxidation states, but just plain ol' balancing.

Going thru this again, I remissed several due to not balancing out the equations before hand. I won't lie, it's been FOREVER since I had practice balancing out equations and I seem to have lost my Midas touch. I'm hoping I don't have to worry about balancing out too many equations on the actual DAT bc that is the least of my worries (besides the other concepts I've missed again and got other problems wrong).

It's funny how I'm doing well in the Ochem sections/practice tests, yet I have such a shaky foundation of the fundamental chemistry ish 😕

Balancing equations is pretty important on DAT GC. Youre likely to have at least one problem where you have to balance an equation. It isn't terribly difficult, spend an hour or so and you'll get it down. All you need is some practice (you already have plenty available) and some YouTube videos.

Thanks for the reply. Yea I use to be an ace at it (great chem professor back in junior year of HS) but now it's just a disaster. So funny how it's easy to overlook the simple stuff
