Hello all! I have been using DAT Bootcamp resources to study for content review and now I have 3.5 weeks left until my test date. I have done a week of Bootcamp Tests 1-5 subject questions but I feel like I need to transition to DAT Destroyer/Math Destroyer (I personally have seen many success stories from friends/associates from my university that have used it in the past with the old Ari's schedule)

My friend purchased the DAT Destroyer/Math Destroyer 2019 and is willing to let me use it. However, Is 3.5 weeks enough to go over destroyer? I know that it is suggested to do destroyer twice (As I've seen from previous breakdowns). Can anyone suggest how I can utilize destroyer in 3.5 weeks? Is that even possible?

That is not an easy question to answer, a lot depends on your foundation. I highly suggest you get to the Destroyer as fast as possible and do ALL the work. There are many versions of the DAT and the Destroyer will shield you from what every comes your way on test day, over prepare, YES, that is the only way you can avoid a possible retake. It is better discover any weakness now than on test day. No harm in rescheduling your DAT if you need more time.

Just m y 2 cents from someone who has worked many dental students through the years!

Wishing you the best! Nancy

Hi Nancy!
I have used Dr. Romano's and Dr. Blois Videos to study for QR because Khan Academy math was just not clicking for me. My improvement in understanding the concept in math have helped tremendously because of the videos you guys have released on youtube. So I feel somewhat equipped to start Math Destroyer.
(I am planning on watching the ochem and gen chem videos as well)

Since you have seen many students go through Destroyer at different lengths of time, do you think 3.5 weeks is reasonable? I will push it back if I have to, but I am curious to know before I start if 3.5 is even reasonable.

I don't know how many questions the 2019 Destroyer has (I had the 2017 one I think), but I would divide each section up so that you cover 100 questions per subject per day. It honestly goes by quicker than you think. I did this and I finished the Destroyer Bio questions in ~6 days (they had like 600 something in that version, so I did 100 a day, and the last day I did a little more than 100 to finish it off). I graded it quickly and then reviewed later on in the day/night to see what I got wrong. This way, I was able to get through the Bio questions twice in under 2 weeks (I only used Destroyer for Bio and nothing else-- I used BC for every other section).

For Math Destroyer, my version had like 18 (?) tests I think, so I did 2 a day, timed. Again, it really goes by faster than you think. I graded them immediately, and reviewed them later the same day. I didn't go through Math Destroyer twice though, I think once is probably enough because you have BC too.

My breakdown in my sig has more details and also has an excel spreadsheet that shows you how I graded it quickly! 🙂

You're my favorite person on this forum. You always answer my questions with such great insight and advice. Thank you so much for that! haha 🙂

I recall looking at your breakdown and bookmarking your post a while back but I am looking at it again and I remembered you're the genius!!!!! Haha!

So I saw that you studied for 8 weeks total and used destroyer midway in your schedule. I'm assuming you did 2 weeks for BIO destroyer and 1 week MATH destroyer and your last week you did the rest of BC subject tests? Is there a reason you didn't do GC/OC Destroyer? or you just ran out of time?

Also, 100 questions a day for bio sounds so insanely out of my league hahaha. I'm personally weak in gen chem so I might have to do 50 bio, 50 gen chem even if that means I'm omitting the end of the bio questions. x)

3.5 weeks is not reasonable for MOST students, you can judge for yourself as you go through the Destroyer, as your test date nears, and if you are feeling unsure, it is always best to listen to that intuition we ALL have, and if it is speaking you need more time, Listen! Make sure to also look at Dr. Romano's Dynamite Review that was written by him, it is not just notes! Hope this helps! Artist22 used our work and did quite well and at that time we did not have videos our our Dynamite review!

Wishing you the best..Nancy

I think you can do it but you'll need to redo the problem for it to sink into your head and you're probably gonna waste time getting frustrated the 1st time through so stay motivated and committed. I say the first 2 or 2.5 weeks go through all of destroyer and learn as much as you can and don't get frustrated with getting things wrong. So start-off by doing 40problems a day in each section. 40x14days(2weeks) you'll be done with all the problems before 2 weeks (READ all the solutions). The 1st time through should take the longest amount of time, significantly longer than the 2nd run because you're learning as you go. Then the second time through do maybe 50/60 problems of gc and oc then 100 for bio so you get done within a week so you'll be done within 3 weeks and just check your answers instead of reading each solution, unless you got the same question wrong.

I'm on my second run through and I can knock out 50-75 gc problems in under an hour, 100 bio problems in less than maybe 30 minutes. Since the second time through you just need to check the answers instead of reading the solutions again, because you should have done that the 1st time through. To be fair if I did destroyer a 3rd time I can probably do the whole book in one day because you already did it twice and learned everything.
