Which of the following is a false statement about the krebs cycle?

(A) It represents a phase of aerobic respiration
(B) 3 NADH, 1FADH2, 1GTP are produced per turn of the cycle
(C) The reaction occur within the matrix of the mitochondria
(D) One mollecule of glucose produces two turns of the cycle
(E) All of the above

I put D, but the answer was E.

All statements are true.... How can answer be E?

well.... (A) is debatable because technically speaking, there is no Oxygen being used up... HOWEVER, you can think that the Kreb's cycle woun't kick-off unless Oxygen is readily available

Actually (E) states "All of these are True" which would make sense and the answer is indeed E ;)

All are indeed true statements including choice D. One molecule of glucose (6 carbons) is converted to 2 pyruvates (3 carbons) in glycolysis. These undergo decarboxylation and are converted to 2 acetyl CoA molecules (2 carbons). And acetyl CoA is the substrate that feeds into the Kreb's cycle. So one molecule of glucose ultimately produces 2 acetyl CoA molecules thereby leading to 2 rounds of the Kreb's cycle.

To sum it up:
1 glucose --> 2 pyruvates --> 2 acetyl CoA --> 2 rounds of the Kreb's cycle

I misunderstood the sentence.

I thought the choice D was describing dark reaction.

I thought it was saying they are producing glugose by using 2 turns of

carbon dioxide.

Thank you!!
