I have the 2011 versions of the DAT Destroyer and Math Destroyer. However, I am only going to take the DAT for my first time in about a month. Is it worth purchasing the 2013 destroyer books? How much more material do you think was added in 2 years? If it's a huge update, I'll probably be willing to buy them.

Also, has anyone had any success with the organic chemistry Odyssey book? Orgo is kinda a weak subject for me.....

I would appreciate any help or insight!

THANKS 🙂

you'll be fine with the 2011 version.

did you try studying orgo using chads? it's pretty much the only thing you need to get a 30 on orgo.

I am going to start using Chad's soon! Is it really that helpful for Orgo? Doest it cover everything? How about General Chem?

chads is amazing for gen chem and orgo. great for introductory QR. i bought the DAT subscription so it all came together.

if you checkout these breakdowns :http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=992975

you can tell just how many people really appreciated using chad's. its like the chem bible XD.

I would couple chads with bootcamp to really cover your bases.

I agree!

Make sure you do practice problems. Use everything you can! BootCamp is great but save them for full-test simulations along with the 2009 ADA test. That way you have SIX tests to do. Achiever helps out a lot too because it's super difficult and it will help you prepare for your worst case scenario. Just don't worry about the scores. It's not representative. BootCamp, 2009 ADA Test, QVAULT and TopScore are the only ones that I found to be good predictor of scores.

If you are really weak in OC (which was my case), read and do all the problems in Organic Chemistry as a Second Language by David Klein for both semesters. It's embarrassing but I didn't even understand what Chad was talking about and he's one of the best teachers on earth. DAT Destroyer OC was literally impossible for me. I REALLY had to learn from scratch and build a new foundation. I did in a month. Went through the first semester book in a week, second semester book in another week and then re-watched Chad's Videos for two weeks. After that, practice test problems became so much more manageable. Didn't have to guess on half the problems anymore. 👍 You can check out my breakdown too. I mention this same thing.

Good luck!

Okay GREAT! Thanks for the advice! My only major concern however is that I don't have the most updated version of the Destroyer to work with. I know that every year it includes new problems that are very similar to the actual questions on the DAT. I just don't know how many problems are added...and whether it would be worth it to rebuy the new versions.

The new Destroyer has more problems. It wilk hell. If money js an issue and you need to improve Organic, then go for the Odyssey. It has all thenorganic problems in it to give you more practise.
For bio use cliffs or cambells, or Schaums outline questions to practise.
Good luck.

My 2013 Version has:

486 Bio Questions
271 OC Questions
297 GC Questions

If your book has less than those amounts, then they probably added new ones or revised it.

Hope that helps.

To be honest, I don't think it's worth it. With that $150, you should just invest in other resources so you can get also get other testing companies' approaches to the DAT. I tried all of them and if you have the money, it's worth it to get all of them. 😀

Wow yeah that helps a lot thanks! The 2011 version has:
420 bio questions
248 OC questions
257 GC questions

That's 129 more questions in all if I'm not mistaken. I think it might be worth it...

Thanks again!

Wow, that's a lot of problems actually. Didn't know they added that much in two years.

I will take my other post back. 129 questions is basically whole another science section.

Good luck to you, man. 👍
