Hey, I bought the destroyer last year and I wanted to get the updates from Dr. Romano, I emailed them a lot with no responses. Anyone got their telephone number so I could contact them????

Hi, I have heard that they used to be very accommodating and send updates but now they get so many requests that they cant do it. They dont even send the books directly, they are shipped from the printer or something. Now that its such a popular book its not practical to send the new parts out. No textbook company sends you new updates when they come out with new editions and if you called kaplan for this they would laugh in your face. Thats what I hear so youll prob have to find a friend who has it. Good luck!!

Hes right, it wouldnt make sense for them to send out updates, they would be gettig requests for updates daily. Its like any new edition of a book, you dont ask the publisher for updates from edition 1 when edition 2 comes out, they will tell you to buy the second edition.

I have Cambells sixth edition, so you think if i called them they can send me a copy of the 7th. I could use the new edition. OOh and also I have a 9th edition brown lemay for inorgo maybe they will send me the 10th too. See how stupid this sounds.

The examples of the books you gave don't change much from ediition to edition, just grammar mistakes and typos for the most part.

Destroyer: He used to do it which means that the transaction is still profitable (Probably makes 140 on each book he sells). Lastly, he doesn't need to send an entire new book...just the additional questions (maybe 20 pages) which is very affordable. This like apples and oranges in comparison to your examples.

Sorry but you have no merit for this statement. You cannot prove to me that Cambells Bio or anyother book doesn't change much other then grammer. They usually do add newer questions and change certain things as well as add new things. Klutzy's posts make more reasonable sense then yours, sorry but i don't believe that they should be obligated to send you the updates.

It does not make any sense for him to send out new updates.

I think this whole thread is useless, one of the mods really needs to close this. I'm with klutzy on this one all the way.

I am merely pointing out that he used to send them out and now he doesn't. We all know why someone would stop sending out updates (increase profits). 150$ only pays for a few hundred pages, not the additional 20 for updates. Updates would only cost him about 5$ total.
I am sure that isn't much for someone selling 150$ dollar books. 😀

So as i said, cambells and brown lemay and mcmurray also should be handing out the updates. Unfortunately thet dont. It isnt something that shoukld be expected or something that would be fiscally responsible for the publisher and author. Lastly he probably has a contract with the publisher that doesnt allow him to hand out updates like that.

True, but it does not' matter. I own my own business and i've noticed, that as soon as you do one person a favor, everyone comes for those favors. It's best to stick with a policy. This is why Dr. Romano probably should not have ever gave out updates before. Because he did before people are still asking him, and it probably got to a point where it's not worth his time to send all the updates. Listen business isn't only run under the profit of an item, his time and work also go into it.

It's like a Dentist, he/she does not only charge you for whatever the material cost or equipment cost to do a procedure, the Dentist also charges for his time and his knowledge of work.

We would all do the same thing probably. I think some people are upset because he USE to do it. I guess he stopped sending out updates after Destroyer became a house hold product here on SDN. Heck, he use to call people up and talk to them about the test.
