DAT Dissapointment

Hey SDN family,


I just took the DAT today and here's my score breakdown:

PAT: 22
QR: 24
RC: 21
BIO: 22
GC: 23
OC: 22
TS: 22
AA: 22

I have a 3.3 Science GPA and a 3.4 Overall GPA. I really was expecting a 24+ on the DAT since my GPA is so low but I'm kind of disappointed with this score. I really want to go to a hard to get to school like UW Seattle. I have volunteering and shadowing experience. Does this school make me competitive at all for schools like that with my low GPA or should I retake it??

I hope you are not trolling. Regardless, great scores no retake. Just apply at least 20 schools and a handful of low tier schools and private schools.You can also try to call UW Seattle, but I am pretty sure they won't give you a straight answer.

Your scores are absolutely fantastic! Call UW Seattle and give them your stats, they can best advise you!

I wouldn't be disappointed at all - don't forget how well you did relative to other students. Roughly 13,000 people take the DAT each year, only around 2.5% score higher than you:

I promise I'm not trolling at all..im just really scared for admissions. My GPA is pretty low to all the school averages and I don't want to wait another cycle, so I really hope to get in this time into a school that I would enjoy going to

In this case it isn't DAT disappointment but more so GPA disappointment. You did fantastic on the DAT, anyone would be ecstatic to have your scores. Just have to hope your lower than average GPA can be overlooked with a fantastic DAT score. I would work on having great extra-curriculars as well like volunteering and shadowing.

Great scores, but you know that.

Consider what makes up the average GPA for a class; they'll be many 3.8, 3.9's, and to get a, say 3.6 average.... guess what? They'll be many in the low 3's.

You'll be amazed that some people in every class made it in... and then... graduate.

Don't give up. You're better than you think.
