DAT: dominate GC, orgo and math

I am planing to take the dats in may, and need advice on materials to use for Gen. chem, Orgo, and math.

so i know of these materials:

orgo:
kaplan, destoyer, princton, orgo as a second langage

math:
sat math, CDM, destoyer
but i am extremely weak in this area and need help to learn the material from scratch

Gen chm:
i need to work on calculations

I took my DATs recently and I found the Kaplan online course material to be very helpful because they have a lot of practice questions that you can work on and review over and over. Their Review Notes are very helpful as well.
Destroyer is definitely a good supplement for practice questions and it gives you good explanations. Good luck! 🙂

Looks like you already have your foot in the door for prep materials. For gen chem I really liked Princeton Review's AP Chemistry. I borrowed the 2009 edition from my library and it was pretty helpful. Most of the calculation concepts (Redox, Kinetics, Thermochem, Acid Bases, Solution equilibria, etc.) are explained simply and to the point. Each chapter also had a few pages of practice problems.

I've heard that really any chem text can be used though. Hope this helps. G'Luck !

So ya, you picked the right sections to dominate...but don't get your hopes up on QR...time is a factor and some problems are tough.
I barely finished on the real one and on practice tests I was scoring high and finishing early. Hence, start timing yourself harshly. If topsocre gives you 45 mins...do it in 35. Same with Achiever/Kaplan.

Definitely agree with doc about timing, all the simulations are a little bit easier. Because of that you should train to finish with 5-10 minutes left to spare. If you find that you are not having enough time on the simulations then it will play out the same way with the real thing. After a few simulations you get the jist of the sort of problems they ask, CDM is on the spot with the word problems they have IMO.

thanx soo much for the help guys. I was wondering if i should study the concepts on math from the sat books (or anyother ones u can recommend) and then hit up CDM. or analyze how to do the questions on CDM and ill be fine.

I think there are some free resources online like Sparknotes that go through most math questions that will come up. I recommend spending a few hours on those.
