Hi, I'm writing my first thread now (I just got the membership.)

I took DAT yesterday and this is the result.
Please give me any kind of your opinion.

PAT 21
Bio 19
GC 20
OC 21
RC 14:scared:
QR 18

TS 19
AA 18

GPA(overall) 3.75 (Art Major)
GPA(Sc) 3.9 (post bac to finish Pre-req.)

My major concern is the low RC score.
(English is my second language and I got PIANO passage. I freaked out then mess up the whole section.)

Do I need to retake?

Thanks!

Considering your GPA I think you should be good, if your other stats (volunteering, dental experience, etc...) are good! You def. can't say you messed up your DAT...Overall I think that should get you interviews!

Good Luck

btw, what is a PIANO passage? Always have wondered.

It is about piano.
It explains How it works.
It also explains about parts and their functions.

Honestly, it was not too bad.

The reason I messed up the RC was I freaked out when I saw the word PIANO on the screen.(It was my first passage)
I just couldn't think/read straight at the moment.

haha I know how that feels. I got the ethics passage! not fun at all!

I think all your scores are great till we get to the RC score. I'd say that RC score will drop your chances of admission below 50% specially since English is your second language. Since you've done well, I think you should put three months into your RC and then retake the test. Provided you can maintain the same science scores, if your bring up your RC to 18-19 I think you'll dramatically improve your chances of admission.

Good Luck:thumbup:

I'm sorry to say this but with 14RC it will be really hard to get into D-schools. Surprisingly a lot of schools highly weigh on RC score & they think the RC score represents how you're gonna do in D-school.
Especially if english is your second language, you've got a huge red flag.
I really recommend you to retake it.
Just focus more on RC.
Good Luck:xf:

Actually, the single most correlated item to dental school grades is the TS average on the DAT. Sure, RC has importance, but I wouldn't say that they place it above TS or AA. Table 1, Page 10 -->

Now, is a 14 RC good? Of course not, but they still have a chance as long as schools don't have cutoffs.

RETAKE 0 % chance of getting an admission . There are TONS of applicants who are well rounded. DS will take them over you. I also have bad RC score. All DS told me to retake and improve my RC score

btw i got frapped ..................aksjdfal;ksjfda;lsf

I am sorry to inform you, but RC 14 (for ESL) needs a retake. Any RC scores below 17 raises huge flag for ESL students. I am a ESL student too and I was told to get at least 17 for admission (UCSF told me,maybe it can be different for other schools). Good luck !

I must agree!
English is my second language too. Last year, I had AA:19 TS:20 PA:19, but my RC score was 18.
I only got 2 interviews!!!
