I took my DAT today and I got FRAP!
I usually do pretty well on BIO, but thought the real one was quite hard.. it very random.

BI 17
GC 20
OC 20
PAT 22
RC 17
QR 18
TS- 19
AA- 18

I have a 3.3 overall GPA with a 3.45 science GPA (non-sci GPA is slightly lower)

more about me :
I lived overseas until high school, but now am in the States (multiculutral experience)
Clinical experience- dentist shadowing/ volunteering in chemo clinic and ER/ ; also did some community service
Work experience - Piano tutoring;
I do work in the lab - research on sugar metabolism

I have the urge to apply for this cycle.. i know those numbers above aren't good enough.. 😕 ; What do you say?
If I don't apply this year, what are my options? It's either work or do more studying; I am thinking of going to a grad school to continue studying - are there postbacc programs for dentistry?

Any comments/ advice will be helpful! 😀

I think you have a decent chance. I would apply if I were you. And if you don't get in, dental schools look favorably upon persistence, so you would have an even better chance next year if you improved those scores. Good luck.

If everything else is good then you could apply for this year but there is only about a 25% chance of getting in anywhere. It also depends on if you care where you go to school or not. If not then you might have more of a chance.

How did you study? What were your scores on your practice tests?

Whoa you took it today and got frapped™? I took it today also but didnt remember getting that question. what were your rc topics?

I first used Kaplan blue book to get the basic concepts and the feel for the DAT; I thought their GC, OC, QR were good; Kaplan's PAT is too easy - use Barron's
I used Schaum's BIO as well and examcrackers<mcat-orgo/gen chem> - i think Kaplan is enough for orgo and gen chem though. ..
I also used TopScore towards the end...

the way I studied was pretty much 1) read+memorize, 2) solve questions, and 3) go back to questions (both to incorrect and correct ones!) for each book. I repeated my 123 until I get descent scores (tried to aim 19 or above) then I used TopScore and solved each section twice. I didn't use Achiever,.. maybe I should have.

In the real DAT I thought BI was just very random (very dissappointed); OC was alright; GC may be was easier than what I expected; PAT was similar to TopScore;
RC- i just suck at it; QR was not bad at all, but make sure you know how to do them FAST!! (i didn't have enough time to finish)

You didnt use destroyer?? mistake, if you take it again i suggest using destroyer and you will see how much info Kaplans is mising.

you might not get into Harvard, but i definitely think you have a shot at a lot of other schools. apply anyway, theres nothing to lose.
