First of all I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum. The info found here is great and all the members are very helpfull and I want to wish everyone on here the best of luck. My breakdown:

I studied about two months (no weekends except the last two) with some days off here and there about 4-6 hours a day.

AA 18
TS 18
PAT 20
Bio 16 👎thumbdown🙁😡
Chem 18
Ochem 19
RC 21

For PAT please get CDP!!!! I took the dat last year without the help of CDP and I got a 16. My Pat section was about the same difficulty as the CDP tests. I was getting 18-22 on the CDP and got a 20 on the real thing.

Bio: bio, bio, bio.... I dont know what happened here. I am a Bio major!! I read Cliffs AP Bio twice, did Destroyer Bio twice, Kaplan once and I felt pretty confident. It was really random (as so many people say) and hard at the same time, probably as hard as the Destroyer Bio section.

Chem: Chads and Destroyer. Did Destroyer twice and Chads once. My chem section had a lot of calculations! I think I had more calculations then conceptual problems. To make it worse the calculations where not set up.

Ochem: Chads and Destroyer. Did Destroyer twice and Chads once. I was never really good at ochem but Destroyer and Chads really helped me here.

RC: Did not study for this section at all. Did S&D and just read the passages fast.

QR: Also did not study much for this section. I think I only did like 40 Destroyer math questions.

Overall I am somewhat happy about most of my scores. I want everyone on here to know that this test is very very doable and can be easy if you just put in the time. Please dont get nervous about this test, it will only make you do worse.

I have a 3.55o and 3.45s do you guys think I should retake due to the bio section? I also just submitted my app like 2 weeks ago 😎

i say call the schools ur interested in and find out if the 16 is below their cutoff (some schools wont look at you if you have below a 17 on 1 section esp bio) then take it from there. you're GPA is at the median for most schools but the DAT is gonna hurt, just make sure to apply to 20+ schools and there might be a chance esp at LECOM, USN and maybe midwestern IL.

I'm assuming this is an improvement over the last time you've taken the DAT, so congrats!

Don't get "SDN-itis" as someone called it (don't remember who haha) and remember that 18-19 is the average for most dental schools as well as your GPA! Good luck!

Congrats on ur scores!! How many questions are for the reading section?

How are your bio grades? Schools will scrutinize your bio grades if you have a low bio score. So if you have good grades here, then you'll be ok.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! By Bio grades are pretty good, I have A's in most of my upper div. Bio classes. One C+ and couple B's and the rest A's and A-'s. I hope they are in a really good mood when they see my application! :xf::xf:

same as everyone else. 50 q's with 3 passages
Thanks I forgot. I was looking at how you get the standard score on reading and I don't think I'm reading this right. It has numbers on the right hand side and the numbers on the left are the standard score. So for instance, reading if you get 14 correct out of the 50 is the standard score 21? It just sounds like this wouldn't be right but I don't know. It has like bio if you get 34 out of 40 right then standard score would be 20. Let me know if I'm looking at this right, please.

I am assuming that you are referring to the ADA guide. That guide only accounts for one passage, since the pratice exam only had 1 passage. If you want to know how you are doing multiply the numbers on the scale sheet by 3. So like 14x3=42. So that means if you want a 21 then you need to get 42/50 correct.

That scoring scale is whacky as it's based off a 17 question section. You need to extrapolate by taking your total number correct and dividing by 3 and then matching it up to the chart.

Thanks to both of you (Letsgo)!! But what about for the rest of the other sections are they true? Like bio, gc, oc, etc... Yes, it is the ADA guide I was looking at. I just wanted to get a feel on how many I could miss although I'm going to try my hardest to do my best.

Congrats!

Did you take the 3 Topscore exams?

If so, were your scores similar to you actual DAT?
