Just got back...

PAT: 18
QR: 16
RC: 23
Bio: 20
GC: 18
OC: 20
TS: 20
AA: 19

I am really disappointed with QR and somewhat disappointed with PAT and GC. How bad will this QR score look? I am good at math, just not fast. I took calc 1,2,3 and differential equations. My GPA is 3.6. Was chemical engineering major for 5 semesters (hence the lower GPA) and biomedical sciences since. Have taken numerous upper (grad) level courses. Will graduate in may and apply by June 1st. Will have about 100 hours of shadowing/assisting. Will hopefully be doing oral biology research this semester. I am an undergraduate at UB and hope to go here for dental school too.

So retake?? Or I am in pretty good shape assuming that I apply early?

Hey, your background info (GPA, grad courses, shadowing, early apps dates) are wonderful.
However, at the interviews, they might ask you why you did not try DATs again. If you have a legitimate reason (busy semester, work, etc), it might work out. But don't take a chance! 🙂

awesome scores man, you should be set!

what was your strategy for the RC?

applying early is very important! there are many reasons why someone may not be able to apply early - once you submit your app - most of the sections cannot be updated and you want your app to be as competitive as possible. this is probably more of an issue with applicants who have not been on the dental track and are now trying to get into d-school.

also - i took the DAT much later than i submitted my app - schools will not consider your app until they get these scores. I could not take the DAT earlier because I was not ready - i have been out of school for a while and recently discovered what a great field dentistry is - that is when I began studying!

I could either wait another year and hopefully have a very competitive app, or try to make it in this cycle - chances are reduced, but if you still want to go for it - do it!

by the way buzpuck11 - i think your scores are competitive - just apply early like everyone is saying!!! It also depends on where you plan to apply.......

Thanks everybody! I feel a little better now, but am still slightly worried about QR and PAT. I really do not want to take it over again if I don't have to. Hopefully these scores will be good enough to get me one or two acceptances.

As for reading, I basically just used search and destroy. I did not study this section except doing the 3 topscore exams.

For everything else I used Kaplan BB, Cliffs AP Bio, Destroyer, and Topscore. I studied about 5 weeks.

You're golden , as I've seen people say. Congrats definitely competitve just apply early

Nice scores, great job. You seem to be an all around good applicant. good luck.
