Study Materials: kaplan online course/ destroyer/ CDP
Hey guys, this is my first time posting but, i've been lurking this forum for several weeks now. I took the kaplan online course and studied the material for ~ 1 and a 1/2 months followed by 3 weeks of CDP/destroyer.
PAT: The kaplan practice PAT tests were too easy. I bought CDP with 3 weeks to go and it truly was a life saver. I was averaging 19-22s on Crack. On the real test the hole punching was about as difficult as crack. The cube counting was easier. Pattern foldings I found a little more difficult because they gave me objects that I hadn't seen before. Angle Ranking was about as difficult as crack although the images are bigger. TFE and keyholes were way easier compared to crack. My technique was to do the easier sections first, so I quickly skipped to hole punching, cube counting, pattern folding and then back to keyholes TFE and angle ranking. I did lose ~ 40 seconds initally, by skipping to hole punching first but, this is how i've been practicing on CDP. I finished with ~ 2 mins to spare.
Bio: Like previously said before. Totally random stuff, but overall not difficult. I highly suggest destroyer (I bought it 2 weeks before my test and only went over it once)
GC: The Kaplan subject tests and practice midterms were way harder. I didn't have that many calculations. The calculations I did have were quite simple. Kaplan was decent in preparing me for this. Destroyer was awesome!
OC: Kaplan sucked for this section! I suggest Kaplan for a foundation only. Destroyer totally kicked butt and is a must! Know your Destroyer road maps and what happens when several reagents are added in a specific order!
RC: My technique was to read/skim the passage and write down keywords for each paragraph. I tried to do this within 6-7mins followed by attacking the questions. Surprisingly, ~ 50 percent of the questions related to the keywords I had written. There were some tone questions as well. I had about 90 seconds left to spare.
QR: I honestly didn't study much for this section. I probably should have put more time into it. I just felt like studying for the science sections was more important. I didn't take any practice tests for this section and really only did some of the kaplan workshops and destroyer problems. The problems weren't difficult at all. Know your triangles and practice word problems involving rates and combinations.
Thanks everyone! Destroyer and CDP are really a must!
