Hi Everyone,

So I just finished my DAT and am very upset. The breakdown of my scores is as follows:

PAT 15
QR 16
RC 19
Bio 20
GChem 19
Orgo 18
TS 19
AA 18

I submitted my application in mid September but it hasn't been mailed out yet (transcript error). I only applied to UMDNJ because I wanted to see how I did on my DAT first. What other schools should I apply to given such a low PAT score and late application? Or should i just not apply at all this cycle?

My science is a 3.34 and overall is a 3.43

Thanks a ton!!

dude, don't feel bad. i took it today, and got a 16 on the PAT. maybe it was just hard today? I would say apply to state schools and go on predents and look see which schools want the lowest PAT. also, i think the averages were posted recently, so you can check that out. good luck, i totally sympathize!!

You may want to consider a retake. Try buying CDP. That should substantially raise your PAT score. Also spend a little more time on QR, even though many believe it is the least important section. Since you've seen the test you know what to concentrate on (Trig, Geometry, Probability, etc.) Science sections look decent. Don't worry about it too much though. You should be fine.

yea you might just want to see how the one app turns out for the cycle.. it is pretty late in the cycle for someone with your stats... i'd say try to pull up your gpa & study for the DATs for a retake during the next week so you'll have better luck next cycle..

if not for it being soo late to submit your app I would say you might get lucky ... unfortunately like others have said above you might want to consider retaking or working on bringing up you GPA for next year. If you dont mind spending the money submit and see what happens ... who knows you might get some interviews.

i also got a 18 aa and 19 ts but 18 pat. i applied a couple of months ago and have 2 interviews.

so it may be a little late to apply depending on when AADSAS sends your app. so is your app complete?

Thank for the advice everyone!

I did use CDP and unfortunately, I could not get the hang of it (even though I was scoring slightly higher on my practice exams). My application is complete and is waiting to be sent out. Some of my friends think I have a chance at NYU dental. From what you guys have heard, do you think its true? Also, what are your thoughts on NYU dental?

Thanks!

not bad scores at all, just a little unsure with the pat, but for nyu you never know! i heard stories of them taking people with worse scores. you have nothing to lose by submitting, and look at it this way: if you dont get in now at least you know what to expect the next time and youll have more incentive to do better. or at least that's what i keep telling myself 🙂

best of luck, let us know what happens.

I actually only studied for 3 weeks, which explains my scores.

For Bio I used Kaplan blue book, Campbell's study guide, Schaum

Chem: A study guide I used for my lecture course, Brown-Lemay, also the blue book

Orgo: Blue book and EK Orgo

I basically used the same materials as everyone else.

I total agree to "eldirty". You did best you could this time and just go forward till end. If you get an interview or acceptance in somewhere, then Horay~!! but if not, then there is always next trial. why not!
