Overall, I thought the test was pretty straight forward from the Kaplan and Topscore study materials. Then I got to QR and had 80% word problems. I have never seen anything like it. I ran out of time with 10 questions left to go, so I put all Bs for those questions. Am I going to have to retake it because of a poor QR score?

Those are great scores, no you do not have to retake it because QR is the least looked at section by dental schools. Your science average is very competitive. Good luck in dental school.

Can you tell us what you studied?

First off, congrats! AA:19 TS:21 PAT:21 - those are great scores. A 14 QR is pretty low however, so you should call the schools you hope to attend and see if they have any cutoffs. If those schools do not have cutoffs and you have a good GPA, you should be fine. QR is probably the least important section. Good work. 👍

Could you give us a breakdown? what books did you use?

I got an interview with a 12 on QR. On my retake I got a 15 QR. I got accepted on Dec. 1. Your other scores are much better than mine too. You should be ok.

I used the Kaplan BB, read through it once without taking notes, then used the study guide that came with Topscore to take notes. I took several of the practice sections and full length tests from Kaplan and from Topscore.

BIO: Nothing in there really caught me by surprise. Kaplan BB
GenChem: I was scoring 20+ on my practice test, but did not do as well here. I kind of rushed through it. I thought I was behind in my pacing, but I was done with 15 min to spare (review). The calculations were mainly setting up the formula correctly and not doing the math. Make sure you know how to setup the theortical yield and density when you are working backwards (ie; from density to find the MM of the compound).
Orgo: Flew through this section. Used Kaplan as well as the Reaction sheet someone posted a few days ago.
PAT: There were a couple angles that were extremely difficult, I marked them and came back. Used the cube counting technique Kaplan recommends and never missed a cube question in practice so I am assuming I did well on the real thing.
QR: Like I said, I guess it was the unluck of the draw. I wound up with tons of word problems, lots of interest rates on loans or investments, rates of travel, etc. I knew how to solve them, but setting up algebraic equations for 30 problems takes a little more then a minute a question. I got an 18 on this section in 2006, too bad I can't mix and match scores.
RC: Search and destory. Find key words and take notes. After answering most of the detail questions, you get the idea of what the overall tone of the passage is. I luckily did not get the ethics or piano passage.

Nice work ... like others I would suggest calling the schools to make sure you meet the minimums. Best of luck!

Men,that's brilliant. How did you get these scores, what materials(books) did you use to prepare for it.I have just Dat Kaplan and the Cd.Peace.

of course, call up and see what the cut offs are, but definitely some competitive scores. i personally think you should be ok, all your other grades are consistent and a nice grad 4.0 gpa. good job, good luck the rest of the application cycle.

thanks for the breakdown, Holy $hi+ your the first one to get a 24 on bio in a long while!

What's the name of the school you got in? There should be more schools like that!
