alright this is my second time taking the DAT and this is my score breakdown
1st attempt (7/18/09)
PAT - 18
QR - 21
RC - 16
BIOL - 18
CHEM - 19
O CHEM - 22
TS - 19
AA - 19
2nd attempt
PAT - 20
QR - 21
RC - 20
Biol - 19
Chem - 23
Orgo - 24
TS - 21
AA - 21
here's how I thought the exam went
PAT - i can't stress enough on how well CDP really prepared me for my exam. If you go through all 10 test, everything should be pretty simple for you
QR - main thing i used to study was the 3 topscore, achiever, kaplan, and the 11 Math destroyer test. I think the key to doing well is to go with MATH DESTROYER! after you went through 11 test, take notes on what you missed and go over it one more time just to see if you remember how to do them. all the questions on the exam i thought i either seen it in the math destroyer, or the practice exams. but since this the last section of the test i was already too worn outt to seee if i can remember anything...didnt help that i didnt get much sleep the night before either.
RC - don't really know the method into studying this one. on practice test
i usually do the mapping method, but when i got to the exam it felt like it was taking too much time so i went with search and destroy. there were alot of tone questions as well as those main idea of the passage questions but if you answered the other questions it should help you answer these as well
Biology - for this section i used cliffs AP biol, kaplan BB, as well as the DAT to go book. i didn't get the chance to go through the DAT destroyer biol section however the questions were pretty straight forward....either you know it or you don't...but there were those 3-4 odd ball questions you will run into
Chem - mainly used kaplan BB, destroyer, and chad videos for this part. all the calculations were set up for you, and there were some concept questions as well but nothing too difficult. chad videos + the kaplan BB should help drill the concepts into your head, and destroyer should be able to help out with all the calculation problems
Orgo - used kaplan BB, destroyer, and chad videos. In my opinion the easiest part of the exam, but thats only because i had a really good organic chemistry background. it also helped that i'm currently a TA for orgo as well. basic reaction problems, had some spectroscopy stuff, and questions concerning lab techniques.
Overall, I'm very happy with my scores mainly because I was able to improve in every subject, except for math. Now i can just sit back, relax, and wait for applications to open up!!
