Took the DAT with the new calculator section - it definitely helped !

Got 22AA
20PAT
23 RC
22 GC
23 OC
21 Bio
19 QR

Ive got a 3.76 gpa/3.7 science
Im not planning to retake!

I studied with the Kaplan course and got crackDAT for angles, and hole punching (difficulty level was between kaplan and crackdat for both of these sections)

Excellent work on the score. I'm taking the DAT in 2 weeks and was wondering what your strategy was for the Reading Comprehension section. I'm still having troubles with that section and would love some feedback.

I'm actually taking, the Kaplan course right now, angles seem real easy, is crack pat worth it?

One more question, how on par was the material covered in the kaplan course with he actual test?

omg! those are some great scores you got there! congrats!
im taking my DATs this coming august and im currently taking the kaplan course, too, and i just wanted to ask...how long did you study for?
did you study ONLY the kaplan course materials with CDP, or did you buy other stuff like DAT destroyer, etc..?
again, congrats on the scores! 🙂

I studied for about 3 months.. But I was working 40 hrs a week, atleast 2 hours a night. I only studied the Kaplan course and CDP. I took notes on all my practice tests and I suplemented questions I did not know with searches on wikipedia. The Kaplan tests were pretty on par to the real test, if anything slightly more difficult in gen chem and orgo, but they prepared me extremely well-it is very important to study and understand your mistakes on the practice tests. The bio section was also on par - but you need to keep in mind that this is a standardized test, you will never know everything there will be information you havent seen before (and this will likely show up in bio!)

Crack PAT is worth it for the angles alone and hole punching - kaplan is too easy in those sections. As far as reading comprehension I did the kaplan practice tests and that was all.

Awesome, I just started the class two weeks, ago and I have a question for you, if you still have the review notes, look on page 773, on problem 20.

Its asking to determine the energy of a photon with a set frequency, using the formula E=hv, then they ask you if it has enough energy to excite a hydrogen electron from n=1 to n=3, to me it looks really drawn out even for the DAT, its decent amount of calculation for a standardized test, will something like this come up in the real DAT?

I didnt have the energy of a photon come up on the dat, and my instructor told me that it most likely would not, but you need to be prepared for anything, its a really simple formula to memorize and the dat would give you the constants in the equation. (ie: planks constant)

For reading, I jotted down important points in the passages, this merely helped me pay attention when reading.

There is a calculator provided (a windows calculator with basic functions) in the QR section, you can read more about it on the ADA's website.

Congrats. nice score.

Can I ask you about reading section?

What topic was on your test?

Did you get piano? If so, how was it?

Yes, I would love it if you could tell me about the piano passage also since I have read a lot of hype about it. Also, I took the Kaplan course but it was useless for teh most part because I dint do any of teh work. I was wondering if the stuff in teh LEsson book ( thin book) is actually the emphasis and the QR of teh WHIte review book is enough??
