So I just finished my DAT today...finally! So i got my scores and I think I did well but I'm really not sure how competitive I am. I am brand new to this forum, so I was hoping that some of you veterans could give me an idea of how my scores shape up.

    PAT 22
    QR 21
    RC 23
    Bio 22
    Gchem 22
    Ochem 19
    TS 21
    AA 21

I'm going to be a senior at Boston College and my overall GPA is a 3.74 and my Science GPA is a 3.80. I have plenty of hours dental shadowing, am involved in bio research, and am heavily involved in several EC on campus.

What sort of schools do you guys think I could apply to a realistically be completive in? Please be brutally honest.

Those are excellent scores. I would apply to the schools your interested in, and then add 3 that you have a really good shot at, such as private schools that do not have residency restrictions. But man I would love a 21 AA, and 22 PAT. It seems everyone on this forum is getting high scores.

Some people lie (very few) and the rest post ONLY because they did as well as they did.
I am 99.9% sure you will get in.
    good job.

bragging to people they don't even know to make the rest of us feel bad about ourselves? well that just seems pointless and not the real point of this forum at all

    good job,

You are more than ok just focus on the rest of your application. don't worry about seeing some high scores in SDN( if it is not fake!). you have done good job. check predents.com and you can find out the real acceptance and interviews scores.

Well I took the Kaplan course and would go to the classes every week and keep up with the material so that helped a lot. Other than the classroom sessions, I had about 3 weeks after this semester ended to just study and I used only the Kaplan materials. I would study a couple hours a day over the three week period. But I didn't use any of the DAT destroyer or Crack DAT stuff...just Kaplan. I honestly didn't even know the stuff existed!

It's called flaming/trolling. Many people like intensionally creating heated arguments online because of the anonymity of SDN. People like freaking others out also to get their spirits down to try to get an advantage for themselves. I find it sickening how competitive some people are because all of us who do end up getting in are going to be classmates and providers of a service to the public.

Awesome scores man. I am currently in the Kaplan course, and I also have Topscore and Crack DAT, but I haven't started using those materials yet. My course ends June 30th, so after that I think I'll just be doing practice tests and reviewing the stuff I get wrong.

I'll disagree with that statement. His scores are better than mine (I had 21 AA, 20 TS, and 17 PAT), and I will be starting at Harvard in August. Congrats on your DAT scores and good luck applying.

So would you just read through the Kaplan review notes and take the online subject tests? or go chapter by chapter and read + memorize?

also, what was your length of studying + hrs per day...I am using Kaplan also so it might relate well

    thanks!

That's awesome... congrats! Do you mind sharing what your GPA was or if there was anything about your application that was particularly exceptional (or are you just a phenomenal interviewee)?

Great job. Apply where you like, keep doing well in your classes and ECs, and you will be in good shape.

These scores are competitive. You can pretty much apply to anywhere you want except those state schools that take no OOS.

Everything is on predents.com under the same user name. But yes, both interviews (there are two separate 45 minute interviews) went very well in my opinion.

I disagree. We report scores with study methods to give our community an edge on the competition. The posts are to show you that viewing these forums to aid your studying will improve your scores. If anything, you should feel more confident.

This community is what, maybe 5% of applicants at max? If you feel intimidated by the scores, just keep this in mind. For every 90%+ score you see you have to remember that 90% of DENTAL APPLICANTS did WORSE than the poster, and that poster was a member frantically scrambling through threads just like you at one point. You have the top scorers telling you how to do well, use the info! A great number of members come back to post these scores, it must mean you're doing something right by being a part of it.

If I had just listened to PSU's garbage premed advising staff and just taken a kaplan course, I guarantee you I would not have done well on the exam. I had to find this site on my own. If I can assume that most colleges work the same way as mine, it's a pretty safe bet that relatively few people know of this resource.

I posted mine a while ago with some good strategies and as much info as I could without violating the academic integrity agreement. We can release our scores, we can say what we studied, but we can't mention any test content. So it can clearly come off as bragging, but that's not what is meant by it.

If there were posts like "ZoMG I totally gotz 30 on all secshuns lololl you all suck!!!!1" that would be a different story, but I don't see any of that on here.

I go to Boston College not Boston U so I woudlnt know really

But as a city...boston is a great place to go to school! I will probably apply to both Boston U and Tufts in Boston and maybe Harvard.
