Thanks for all the good advice sdn'ers.
Here are a few things about how I prepared for the test: I used DAT Destroyer for chem, ochem and math. A very good resource. Happy I spent the money on the material. For Bio I used KBB and Cliff's. One thing I regret: not spending enough time on PAT. I am an architecture major and have always been good with visualizing 3D objects and solving problems of this nature. I almost had next to no practice for this section prior to the test and just relied on my personal abilities in this section. Oh well! I also knew I was not that good in reading, but I did not have enough time to practice more- I used search and destroy for all 3 passages, but I ran out of time on the third passage and basically just bubbled in something by chance for the last 10 questions or so.

I studied intensively for 20 days for an average of 8 hours a day. The only extra other thing I had done within the past few months was to go over the youtube videos of Ochem by "freelance teacher". They are free (pay what you like- but no payment necessary) and avilable on youtube. I used to be terrible at ochem, I must say that those videos were awesome and very helpful...

All in all I am happy with the result, but I don't know if my PAT and RC have completely ruined my chances of getting into UoP (my dream school) Any idea anybody?

Good luck to all of you out there who are going to take DAT in the near future. Just keep your confidence high and be strong. It's completely doable 🙂

Congrats on the great scores!! I'm also using freelance to study Ochem but I'm concerned I will never get through the 65 video series in 3 weeks. Did you skip around when watching his videos or do them in sequence. There's just not enough time to watch his videos and Chad's?

Thanks

Yeah those videos are quite lengthly if you want to go through them. I sucked at orgo so I really had to do something about it. I started in January and spent an average of 2 hrs a day on those vids for about a month, until I felt confident that I got the main ideas, like I really made sure I understood them and the basic mechanisms and the logic behind them. I started from the basic videos on chirality and went over all the SN1SN2E1E2 videos and alkenes and aromatics, alcohols, carboxy acids, ketones and aldehydes. Maybe about 40 videos and the rest I just skipped around and mixed it with studying the KBB and going over destroyer. Destroyer questions were a lot harder and trickier than the real test but they got me really ready for the test.

Thanks for the response, I think your scores are super! Lately the people posting on here are talking like a 20 is just ok. I would be thrilled with your scores!

3.4 overall and 3.5 sciences. I am planning on taking a few more science classes to boost up the GPA. What do you think?

good score PAT's a little low, but most schools cutoff is 17, back it up with a solid gpa and great extra currics and you'll be fine
