I would first just like to say that all of info on sdn really helped me out during my studying. I started studying 6 weeks before my exam. I used Kaplan Blue Book 2008-2009, Cliff Notes AP Bio, and DAT Destroyer. I took notes on Bio, Chem and Orgo for 3 weeks. Then just studied for the other 3 weeks. Here are my scores:

RC: 22
QR: 21
PAT: 20
Bio: 21
Chem: 23
Ochem: 29
AA: 23
TS: 23

Bio: There were alot of random questions like everyone else said. You just have to have a broad knowledge in all topics of of biology. I had one plant question. There were some questions that came straight from destroyer. AP Cliffs has alot more info than Kaplan; i liked AP cliffs for Bio.

Chem: Not many calculations, mostly theoretical. Kaplan and Destroyer were good for this too.

Ochem: Pretty straight forward Kaplan and Destroyer helped were good for this.

PAT: I just used kaplan and it was ok, the angles are a little harder to determine on the real thing, but otherwise it was about the same.

RC: The passages were a pretty easy read. For some questions you had to know what the whole passage was talking about. But it wasn't that hard. Kaplan makes it harder than it really is.

QR: Destroyer and Kaplan were good for this, but still there were some questions that any amt of studying wouldn't have prepared me for.

If you have any questions just let me know.

good job,

so you did not use any other study material like topscores or achiever?

if you did , could you please post your scores?

Thanks!

well i think what is was, was that there are some experimental questions on the PAT and i probably got those wrong, and got the ones that actually counted right. I felt that everything was close except the angles. The angles in Kaplan are way to easy compared to the real thing.

Hey so if you had only studied Kaplan for BIO do you think it would be a problem? Would you still be able to get 20+

well i think that kaplan is good but some things in cliffs are better explained cuz its for the AP test and i feel that for the DAT if u know everything that the AP class covers you will be alright. Destroyer definately helps. I would try to get all of info u can get on the subjects. I feel like no matter how much u prepare there will be some random questions on the Bio sections. I mean i would go on wiki and just read up on things that you may not be sure of. Thats what i did if i didnt know something.

I've almost got everything in the Kaplan TEXT down, and I've been running through the online subject tests 1-2 times a day getting all the answers down and using the solution description to understand any angle they could throw at me... I only have 5days till I take it so I hope that this will end up being sufficient ... :/

i think u will be fine, you just have to be confident and just beleive in yourself. I know it sounds corny but it definately helps.

congrats, those scores are awesome 👍. I have a question for you though. How close is Bio AP Cliffs compare to the real thing? and when you said that there were questions that come straight from destroyer, did u mean for bio section?

well i feel that AP Cliffs better prepares you for Bio cuz it just has everything. For bio no matter how you prepare i am sure there will be some questions that will stump you. There are just so many things they can ask you. I mean i am a Cell Bio Major and i thought bio was my best subject and still some questions stumped me. And yea there were bio questions that came straight from destroyer, so i was happy about that.

how were your practice exams compared to the real thing (i.e. Kaplan) ? Were you making about the same scores as you did on the real thing?

Solid scores all around, congrats!

destroyer helped alot with ochem, kaplan was pretty good too, i think ppl should study them both to do well in ochem

My strats for RC were just to take notes while reading and the topics were just science stuff they were a pretty easy read i would say

i actually did worse on the 2 kaplan practice tests than i did on the real thing, not by much, but like i was getting 18's in PAT and like 19 in RC and about the same in all of the others, and i never got that high in orgo except on the ADA website practice test where i got a 30, so i was pleasantly surprised
