Hey guys, I just took my DAT exam two days ago.
I would like to hear some advice..
Here are my scores:
PA 20 (81.0)
QR 26 (99.8)
RC 18 (52.2)
Bio 21 (95.5)
GC 22 (95.2)
OC 22 (94.0)
TS 22 (98.3)
AA 22 (98.9)
I'm overall satisfied with the results. I want to thank everyone that helped me in this forum.. hope the best for you guys too 😉!
cGPA: 3.86 sGPA: 3.9
So I haven't applied yet, I'm planning to apply by this weekend (7/11). My personal statatement took me way too long. I'm thinking of submitting to ~15 schools. I'm a little scared that I'm applying a bit too late.. most SDNers seem to have completed their apps by now.. what do you guys think? I'm also an international student--which makes me kinda nervous. Do you think I'll be fine if I apply by this weekend or so? Any input appreciated guys.. thanks.
For the test:
PA: CDP all the way.. get the 10 test version. however for keyholes I suggest looking at harder ones. the real thing's keyholes were a bit more tricky i thk. I dunno why I got a 20 on the real one.. i always got over 23, even with topscore(i didn't buy the achiever). The hole punching was also weird with some of them folded half way...it was a weird experience. I think I made mistakes on cube counting/angles.. most likely.
QR: didn't prepare for this one too much. I had CDM but only went through 4 of them, scored around 24.. the video explanations were good. I felt that you should know conversions, trig.. etc. practice makes perfect.. Timing was the most important issue. I went through each question only once, but thoroughly..
RC: did not prepare for this one... i used vicviper's method 🙂 didn't mind too much b/c this was one of my worst sections.
Bio: So I think I was rather lucky because i didn't get a lot of plants/taxonomy/ecology related qs.. only simple basic ones for those. I had mostly molec cell bio/genetics stuff. in terms of studying, I would recommend Rlow04's awesome breakdown--videos are better than books. I would go over cliffs with the videos, and maybe read some parts of campbells that you feel uncomfortable with.
GC/OC: Chad. I did buy destroyer but didn't even get to finish it... however, chad's not sufficient for the reactions for orgo. I would supplement with KBB. KBB's orgo section was quite impressive, it nailed down the points. I was confident with GC but i guess i needed to put more time into it...
On the day before the exam, i freaked out and studied about 14 hrs or so. I ended up sleeping only 2 hours. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE.. on the day of the exam, i would suggest you to eat chocolate before going in to pump in some glucose to your brain. The prometric center's markers were quite bad... the one that kaplan gives out has fine points, but the ones in prometric were not fine point.. rather a bit thick 🙁
Please give me some advice and which schools that I should look into.
I was currently thinking of applying to: NYU, UoP, UPenn, UCSF, Tufts, BU, Columbia, Case, Temple, Michigan, Suny buffalo, etc.
Thanks guys! let me know if you have any questions, i'd be glad to help.
