Background: I was originally signed up to take the MCAT this summer, but decided to switch to dentistry for a variety of reasons (I could go on for hours). Anyway, I was coming fresh off of physics, while I had taken my chemistry classes 2 or 3 years ago. I had to do some major review especially for GC and non-physiology bio.
On the actual test, I honestly thought I was not doing too well. After the sciences I was a little rattled during the PAT. I was still a little rattled during RC and QR. I was honestly surprised when I ended up getting a 21. In some ways I am a little disappointed because I think I could of cracked 22 or 23. However, I don't think a 21 will close any doors.
Materials
I actually utilized my public resources and obtained many of my materials through a public library. Via interlibrary loan I was able to get the latest Kaplan book, Cliffs AP Bio, Cliffs Chemistry and Schaums Bio. I also used Destroyer/Math Destroyer and Crack the DAT for the PAT section. Khan's Academy was also a great resource. I would have used Chad's Videos if I had more time.
I am a nutrition science major and ended with a 3.85 GPA (ended college with two 4.0 semesters). My science GPA is probably around 3.7. After AADSAS, they both were bumped up to 3.9 and 3.8 respectively. I have been pretty involved is extracurricular activities, however I only have around 60 hours of dental experience beginning this summer. My plan A is my state school, but I will also apply to Marquette, Creighton and UPenn. I would enjoy going out of state but my state school is a great dental school and honestly the cost of tuition is definitely a factor. I am hoping to get some scholarship assistance, which I think is possible given my strong "numbers".
Feel free to leave any feedback/questions. I am also selling my DAT Destroyer/Math combo for probably around $130. PM me if interested.
