I just finished my DAT and this is what I got:

PAT 18
QR 16
RC 18
Bio 21
GC 19
OC 21
Total Science 20
Academic Average 19

Any thoughts?

GPA would help to decide. Your scores seem good to me. QR scores seem to notoriously not be very important.

If you're not applying this cycle, I would go for a retake but that's just me. In your situation, a slightly above average GPA would go along very well with a well-above average DAT, somewhere in the 22-23 range.

GC, PAT, and QR should be easy to boost in my honest opinion. Again this is just me. I haven't taken the DAT yet, but now that I think about it, if I had gotten a score like yours, I would probably ask the same question due to a lack of motivation to re-study again.

I would retake it if I were you, assuming you have some time. The scores are not terrible, but they're not impressive either, in my opinion.

Are you applying this cycle?

1. If yes, then do not retake- yet. Apply with your scores and see if you get in anywhere (assuming the rest of your completed app portfolio is good). I only say this because we are 12 weeks in from the start of the application cycle and at this point, time is not on your side unfortunately.
2. If no, then go ahead and prepare for a retake since you have the time.

Secret door #3: You also have the option of retaking it 3 months from now but 1. That may not be necessary and 2. You need to judge whether or not you have the stamina to study another round so soon after taking the DAT.

Just my two cents. Honestly, QR isn't the worst section to get a 16 in, but you may have to do a little research to see if you meet the cutoff for d-schools (calling might be the quickest and best method to do this).

Ok your scores are good. DO NOT RETAKE.

IF you drop one point in RC you are screwed with many school. you will be filtered out by many schools if you drop below 18 in rc.
you pat is right on the dot.
Personally I WOULD NOT RETAKE IT. EVEN FOR THE NEXT CYCLE. you are a good applicant academically according to yoru gpa and your dat score. You will get interviews and acceptances with this score. Apply broadly 🙂 good luck.

Thanks for your input guys. I am applying this cycle, and my aadsas application has already been sent to the schools I applied to. I think I will wait and see if I get any interviews, as you guys suggested. If I do not get any interview then I will have to retake, unfortuneately.

LOL. Well would you also say that if you got a DAT question with the "yes" option on the bottom? It is up to the test question maker (me in this case 🙂) to decide what to put first, and I wanted to trick you this time 😛

But seriously though, I put the "No" option on top because in my mind I wanted it to be a no. I hope that I won't have to study for the DAT again, because it killed my whole summer.
