Hey guys,
First time poster, longtime lurker...took my DAT for the first time today and my scores/breakdown are below. First of all, I just wanted to thank this forum and everyone on it. I got a wealth of good advice here and feel as though I should do my part in giving back.
I studied from mid-June up until my test. Took two upper-level summer bio courses in addition to Kaplan so it got pretty hectic at times (bio major) However, I knew that if I managed my time well it was doable. Studied about 4 hours a day at first, then went to about 6 halfway through with breaks in between.
Kaplan course helped, but the online workshops/practice tests were more helpful for me. In addition, I used Cliff's, Destroyer, KWB, Chad's vids.
The scores:
PAT 20 85.4%
QR 19 84.9%
RC 19 59.7%
Biology 22 95.7% 🙂
GC 23 95% 🙂
OC 18 62.6% 😕
TS 20 86.2%
AA 20 87.1%
PAT - On par with CDP for the most part. Bought the Royal Flush version and did all 10 tests (averaged about a 21). Keyholes, TFE were roughly the same difficulty as CDP. Angles were pretty tough, thought they were slightly harder. Hole punches were about the same, cubes were easier, and pattern folding was about the same. CDP helped a lot here.
QR - Lots of word problems; didn't study a great deal for this as I consider myself pretty good at math. Did some QR out of Destroyer and Kaplan practice sets. Time was the limiting factor here; I used up the entire 45 min. and didn't have time to go back to marked problems.
RC - First passage...piano 😱 Tried to stay calm and take it one question at a time. Definitely lots of info though. Passages in general had lots of info and my main strategy was S&D. Everything considered, my score could have been higher, but I'll take it.
Bio - Random like everyone says but my test was definitely doable. Marked quite a few and went back to these at the end. Used Cliff's, KWB, Destroyer. I felt confident with this combination going in and it worked out pretty well. I was most worried about this section simply because of the range of material that could be tested. I was scoring 16's on Kaplan practice tests so I really applied myself and tried to acquire a broad knowledge base here.
GC - Going in I was kind of worried about this section but it turned out to be pretty basic and conceptual; used Chad's, KWB, Destroyer. These resources helped me out immensely.
OC - Not sure what happened here as I was pretty confident going in; used KWB, Chad's, Destroyer. These were key resources for me. Not too pleased here, but nothing I can do now.
I hope this helps others in some way. I would appreciate any feedback/questions! Good luck to everyone who is taking the DAT!
